what does my baby want when she does this?!?!UPDATE.PG3

No experience of reflux but my lo did this when he was overtired too. I kept thinking he was hungry xx

I went through the exact same thing with my LO. Changed his milk to c&g comfort and he's been great ever since.

Have you checked for Thrush in her mouth? This could be making it sore for her to drink. Otherwise, definately try going up a teat size, she might be getting frustrated that the milk isn't coming fast enough x

Sounds like nh LO and he has silent reflux and very Casey.. he also does this when the nipple gets clogged & he gets frustrated.. good luck's (my LO is also 6 weeks now.. maybe it is just the growth spurt around this.time)

interesting about people saying it could be overtiredness - I wonder if this is whats happening with my LO, as some have said it doesnt happen at every feed!

She does seem to strain alot to pass wind, so ive decided to give hipp combiotic milk a go, hope it helps! - I have always had stomach problems myself, so not surprised she is struggling really :(

********UPDATE********

So I went doctors today and it was oral thrush!!!! She was in pain from the bottle I feel so bad :( theyv given me some drops for her so hopefully they work quickly!

Only problem is iv been sitting here and my tongue stating to tingle and iv just realised iv been putting her dummies in my mouth!!!! So I probably have it to, I'm gunna get some drops for myself tomorrow but at least I no what it is now

glad you found out what it was - just out of interest what does her tongue look like? my LO's tongue is white but i figured its from spitting up..?

Aww poor thing. How do you even tell with that? Are there any visible symptoms? X

Oral thrush is a white film on the tongue that doesn't come off if you rub it.

I'm glad you found the reason why she's upset :hugs: Hopefully the drops clear it up quickly!

My LO started to do this about 2 weeks ago (when he was 6 weeks), I thought reflux straight away, but when I put the bottle in his mouth he was moving the teat around and chewing it, I then noticed he was chewing his hands, his cheeks were red, he was dribbling for England .... Oh yes, he is teething!!!! aaaaarrrrggghhhh!!! lol!!

awww poor little bub and poor you!! hope you both are better soon xxxx

Our daughter does this and we know it means binky time, but you mentioned she doesn't want a dummy... One other thing to try is making a shooshing noise while you offer the bottle. We do this for our daughter and she usually stops thrashing and drinks the milk...

Yeah it just looks like milk on her tongue but doesn't rub off, apparantly its very common!

Just to add my babys tongue is always white but the hv said its just the milk so its not always thrush!
But she does do the sstrange thrashing and screaming at the breast.. But not every feed - i think its gas as sometimes if i can get a good burp out of her she goes straight back to feeding!

that is what thrush looks like, hope this helps! My LO had it for a long time, had to get refills on the medicine because it was not going away - i finally did and he hasn't had it since. Don't stick anything that goes into his mouth into yours, also wash your hands good, sterilize all nipples for a long time in boiling water on stove, clean any toys he chews on thoroughly... they even told me not to kiss him on the mouth, but I haven't stopped that :) I love him hah.

Sounds like my dd. She does this same thing, but with her, it's because she's over tired, not enough or good quality naps earlier in the day. But...it could be that she has silent reflux like what the other moms have said. I know....hard to understand babies at times.

My LO used to do this when she was overtired. She used to hit me and allsorts!! I kept thinking she was hungry but she just wouldn't latch onto me at all. Reading these previous comments though she may have had reflux!

This is what I was going to say (the overtired thing). We thought our lo had reflux, doctor even prescribed zantac which made her have bad gas. Now of course it's possible that your lo has reflux, but first make sure she's not just looking to suckle for comfort to go back to sleep. How long has it been since a feeding when this happens? If it hasn't been at least 3 hours she's probably just tired. I was misreading my lo's cues for while before I figured that out :dohh: now I give her a pacifier instead and rock her for a bit and she's fine and no more screaming and pulling away from the bottle. I know a lot of people are against pacifiers but some babies have a strong suckle/root reflex and truly need one to be soothed sometimes.

EDT: Now I have to wonder how many babies are misdiagnosed with silent reflux and put on medication when they were actually just overtired and giving us mommies confusing signals. I just see this is a common issue on these boards and I'm SURE that was my lo's problem now when she was doing that, not reflux.
