Thought here was the best place for this..

I went to the GP yesterday and she referred me to the infertility clinic. We're only on cycle 3 but I've been tracking cycles since Jan and I don't ovulate sometimes (Ive been using soy with good results) and when I do my cycles are just as long (36-52 days, usually around the 40 day mark). I've also had 2 chemicals in a row (BFP on 11dpo, negative by 13dpo and bleeding on 15dpo both times).
So anyway, I expected to be told to go away and try a bit longer but no, she said it's best I get it looked into since we want to conceive sooner rather than later :happydance: She never did any bloods or anything , will they do that at my first appointment at the infertility clinic?

Hi Blah,

Unfortunately, I don't have loads of positive stuff to share. I went to a gynae (who specialises in fertility issues) a few days ago as I have all of a sudden started having more than one +OPK a month and strange cycles. He spoke to me for about an hour about the need to relax and that holidays are a great way to conceive... He did do an internal scan and said my ovaries looked fine. I will also do cd 21 bloodtests when the time comes. He told me to ditch OPKs's as they could pick up on other things and are not reliable. He then went on to tell me "the" 3 ways to time bd'ing - EWCM (although I told him I hardly get this), tracking my cycles to bd around 14 days back from when AF started (although I told him my cycles don't appear to be regular anymore), can't even remember the 3rd thing he said - needless to say it wasn't something I considered helpful....

Hope you get some answers Blah, let us know how it goes

Wow, how helpful :\ I hope mine is a bit more useful. Probably wont be for like 6 months anyway with the NHS  FX I'm pregnant before then!

I cant believe he told someone with fertility issues to track CM, temp and BD 14 days back from when u expect AF  As if u dnt already know that :dohh:

Hiya

If you haven't already had them done,, they will probably want to take some basic bloods, arrange bloods for other points in your cycle, take lots of personal / medical info from you both and either do, or arrange an internal scan. They will also arrange for hubby to have a SA done.

Hope this helps and that your appt goes well
Deb

Hi :)
I was surprised how fast things have got moving, they chat about medical history, cycles, weigh you...Ive been told to lose 10kg to get to ivf weight!!! arranged bloodwork, booked a scan and smear then referred me for lap and dye which I have no had done. I go back in 6 weeks for the results although I know already both tubes are blocked :'( so im glad i have mada start on losing weight as ivf may be the next route! good luck hun
xx
p.s this has all taken since doctors referral in april so pleased with the time hope yours is asquick too

DH and I have our first appointment on 2nd August. I've already had a 21 day progesterone test (came back fine) and DH has had a SA (low morphology). DH has also had various hormone tests which were fine.

I'm not really sure what to expect - I'm hoping they'll do some further tests, or let us know whether DH's morphology is bad enough to bypass the 36 months you have to have been trying before you are eligible for funding. If it's not then we've got another 13 months to go.

Here's my journal entry about my first FS appointment...

Hope that helps :)

if youre still breastfeeding wouldn't that affect your cycles?

Our fertility clinic won't accept referrals without the basic blood tests and 2 SA results for DH being done first. Guess each clinic is different.

Hope you don't have to wait too long for your referral.

at my first apointment at the fertility clinic i told him our story,
he suggested the lap & dye (i had requested it twice before to my regular gyn but he didn't want to do it),
they took my bloods and made an ECG

and they sent OH to a specialist to analyse his penis, semen (again), and check his blood.
i wasn't there, but when OH told me how they literally poked and touched him everywhere,
i wish i had been, would have been hilarious thehehe
