When you first got to see your doctor???

I tried to book up an appointment with my doctor today to tell her im pregnant and see what happens next!... but shes not free for another couple of weeks.

What happens at this first doctors meeting?
Trying to work out if i should just go see any doctor, rather than wait for the female one?

I didnt have to see my Dr, I had to put a urine sample in to test at the Dr's to confirm pregnancy. After ringing up when they wernt ready, the Dr rang me back with the results. Dr then refered me to midwife got app in 2 days.
1st app with midwife tomorrow.

All Dr's are different, at my old Dr you just refer yourself to the midwife.

i hadto wait a few weeks from when i found out to when they could see me since it was the X-mas holiday

when i went i was 9 1/2 weeks and they did a internal (Pap) , a pelvic and a cervical cancer test. then they told me they would not examin me again like that until 36 weeks unless it was needed.
And since all they have done is talk with me and check the baby with thw doppler.
Good luck

I called DR at 5 weeks when I found out and I was advised to book appointment with midwife which would be when I was 10 weeks gone...as you can imagine those 5 weeks took a life time to pass.

AT this first meeting the midwife just took lots and lots of routine blood tests and booked me for another appoinment in 5 weeks time...again i wait!

I saw a doctor at 5 weeks. She booked me in with an appointment to see the midwife, gave me a random due date that was completely wrong and told me to wait for my midwife to give me a ring when she was back from her holiday. Oh and she told me what foods to avoid etc. Pretty boring. Didn't even fill out the forms untill I saw my midwife. I don't think there'd be any problem with seeing a male doctor at this point :)

I saw my GP at 4.5 weeks. She did some paper work on me, gave me a list of dos and don'ts, and sent me for bloodwork. I had to go back at 10 weeks for a physical and she than referred me to my OB.

Thanks girls.... im worrying about everything. Thought i'd be better once i had a bfp. :dohh:

Think id rather wait for the doctor im most comfty with... but just want to make sure i wont miss out on anything important if i dont go in the next 2 weeks. I'd be about 6 weeks when i go so it sound slike that'd be ok?

I'm sure that'd be good. All you really need to know are the basic things like cook things properly and don't drink alcohol or eat kidney & liver! Sure you know all that anyway :)

oh yes... ive been following the most obsessive 'do not' list since christmas just to be sure! Like you do!!

I rang my Dr the day I found out and they said I didnt need to see him unless I had any issues/problems. They They booked me straight in with the midwife and I went to see her a week ago and it was mainly form filling. I wont see her again, unless I want to, till they 'book me in' at about 12 weeks.
havent even taken a sample to confirm I'm pregnant!

xx

Nothing important...they ask you a few questions, take your blood and urine...the real fun starts with the scans...
