Just wondering. I'll be going to Birminghams City Hospital. If I remain low risk I can go to their new Serenity Suite birthing centre which looks amazing!!!

Every room has a pull down double bed and pool :happydance:

Plus if theres any complications the main maternity unit is just seconds away.

Can't help think people are trying to put me off though. One lady I know who just had a baby in the main bit is telling me all sorts, like it wasn't clean, staff weren't friendly etc :nope:

Queen Alexandra Hospital....It has very mixed reviews but honestly I don't care I just want my baby out safely!

I'll be going to Gloucester Royal Hospital where I had my daughter!

They've just had their maternity section re built and it looks fantastic.

Norfolk and Norwich Hospital :) x

Lol I'll be there a few weeks ahead of you!!!!:flower:

Jaysmummy: Can you go and see it first? Im sure its clean

I'm sure I'll be able to, most hospitals do tours don't they?

To be honest I think she's just one of those ladies that likes to play on everything and make everything sound more dramatic than it actually is.

xx

Im at princess anne too - had my daughter there in Dec 2008 and its lovely - lovely staff :) I spent 3 days there in recovery and enjoyed it

I am currently registered at Royal Preston Hospital in Lancashire, however we are trying to sell our house there and move back to the West Midlands, if we manage to move in time, will be at Walsall Manor Hospital.

Hun, I used to work for Sandwell General Hospital in Microbiology before moving to Lancs, Sandwell is a joined NHS trust with Birmingham City Hospital.

The Maternity units at both hospitals were always clean and very good.

I would not be admitted to Walsall Manor main Hospital, but would be happy with their maternity unit.

Every hospital seems to have a bad department, usually somewhere in main hospital.

My other choice in Midlands is New Cross, now I have heard too many bad things about their maternity dept tbh to even consider it. I would however be happy with the main hospital at New Cross.

QE- queen elizabeth in kings lynn....

I had both my previous babies at Sandwell and to be honest couldn't fault them. But the Maternity Unit isn't open anymore which is why I'm going to City.

A friend of mine had her baby at New Cross and the midwife told her they have a lot of car park baby's as ladies aren't admitted until lst minute  Don't know how true it is

I'm going to the Alex in Redditch - decided against the Worcester Royal after hearing too many horror stories; hope I have made the right choice now!

Jaysmummy - I know a couple of people who have been asked if they wont to be filmed and go on it but all have said no.

harrybaby - I've been there to though sadly not for such exciting thing, i lost my little girl at 20 weeks last year and had her there. Everyone was lovely though and two of the nurses even came to her funeral. I'm hoping that this time it's for a happier experience

liverpool womans had izzy there in mlu and it was amazing :D

Just after I moved to Lancs, alot of departments were moved from on site or the other. Microbiology got moved from Sandwell to City. It seems thats also what they did with the maternity unit. I can say, that they moved the staff from one to the other, so you are likely to be with staff that worked at Sandwell previously.

This means standards of care and cleanliness should be exactly the same as you received at Sandwell. What they did was to streamline services so that some were at one site and some at the other, as they did this, they made each dept much much bigger, so you get for example the new serenity suite.

I have heard that and more about New Cross Hospital, one thing is that the unit that was built in the 70's, still looks like its from the 70's. Its not clean and too many babies have died and women nearly died for my liking.
I have a friend that has delivered at both New Cross and Manor, she said she would not go back to New Cross when she had her third and went back to the Manor where she had her first. My other friend is also booked at the manor a few months before me, so will trust my friends judgments, they have both given birth at the Manor and both had very good experiences.

I think it will be pembury in Maidstone for me, I have just moved to Kent from Essex and apparently we can go to Maidstone, medway or pembury! Maybe I ought to do a tour of them! X

Birmingham Women's Hospital in Edgbaston?? anyone had any experience with this hospital??
