Saw an interesting article today about how Canada stacks up compared to other countries in the costs for a 2br apartment. Here is the link to it:
https://money.ca.msn.com/savings-debt/gallery/investopedia/gallery.aspx?cp-documentid=29504418
"The national average rental price for a two-bedroom apartment in Canada tends to be around $864 per month, though in the world's most expensive cities you might not even be able to rent a closet for that amount. See how rent in Canada stacks up to the rest of the world. All dollar amounts in USD."
Tokyo - "According to the consulting group ECA, the average two-bedroom apartment in Tokyo costs $4,352 per month."
Moscow - "The average rental cost for a two-bedroom apartment is $3,500 per month."
Hong Kong - "the average monthly cost of a two bedroom apartment coming in at $2,830."
London - "the average two-bedroom flat costs about $2,824 a month in rent."
Singapore - "A two bedroom apartment rents for $2,810 on average."
Abu Dhabi - "most listings in Abu Dhabi for a two-bedroom unit of 1,000 square feet come in at about $2,500."
San Francisco - "The average rental cost for a two-bedroom unit runs in the range of $2,100 per month."
Paris - "a two-bedroom apartment will still cost about 1,650 euros that's about $2,390."
New York - "a two-bedroom apartment is currently estimated at $1,359 according to the Center for Housing policy."
Vancouver - "The average two-bedroom apartment in the city of Vancouver will run you about $1,181 (in Canadian dollars)"
Toronto - "you'll be looking at paying approximately $1,124 a month (in Canadian dollars) toward rent for a typical two-bedroom apartment"
As the article says it definately depends on location. I have paid every thing from $400 for a 4 bedroom huge house with a huge yard(small town) to $700 for a small 2 bedroom basement suite(Medium sized city). It is also location and so on too. The place we are in now is $1000 a month and for the size it is, location, the fact it has a 2 car garage and such makes this place a huge deal in price.
