What is the difference between a sticky and normal thread?

Keep seeing this and not sure what the difference is.

A sticky is permenantly affixed to the top of a particular forum section They are usually popular or helpful topics. Example: In the Breastfeeding forum, there is a sticky for TTC/Nursing while Pregnant and Tandem Feeding. Hope that helps

Yup as Ozzie says There's generally the forum rules there too so that they are easily accessable by everyone rather than having to wade through pages and pages of threads
