What starter and dessert should I have with my Christmas dinner?

Having turkey with all the trimmings but need some ideas for a starter and dessert.xx

We dont have a starter on Christmas day, I make such a big dinner that I found when I done a starter they were leaving half their dinner over, but when we go out for a Christmas meal I would either get mushrooms or soup. For dessert what about pavalova, cheesecake, christmas pudding ??

thanks hun, yeah i dont want a big or heavy starter but as im having my mum and dad and in-laws round i want to make an effort. those desserts sound yummy!!!! Thank you xx

What about just having Melon for starter. We went to a posh restaurant once for a Christmas meal and they served us Melon to start. I thought it was a bit strange but it went down a treat

I'm making home made soup (not sure what kind yet) and nice bread for starter and we're having good old christmas pud for pudding x

We usually just do soup and/or prawn cocktail for starters and christmas pudding, trifle or cheesecake for afters

What about a ham hock terrine or pate? these can both be made in advance, you just need some nice bread. We're making pomegrante pannacotta for dessert, just leave to set in a loaf tin, it's quite easy and you can also make this a couple of days before and it quite impressive to look at, the red and white is very christmassy.

we always have prawn cocktail for starter and this year for pud we are having a strawberry trifle cheescake....yum lol

We are having Homemade Tomato soup for starter and we have 3 different puddings. Fruit brulee, Chocolate Mousse and Lemon sorbet. Plus we have lots of cakes

We don't have starters but if we did I would have soup and a bread roll. For pudding I am going to have profiteroles as I don't like christmas pudding
