What tests should I ask for?

I am going back to the early pregnancy clinic on Monday and I know the doctor there is really nice and willing to help any way she can, so I'd like to ask for some tests, but I want to make sure I ask for everything that might give a clue as to why this is happening. I've been referred to a doctor who specializes on recurrent unexplained pregnancy loss but I haven't even had any testing so mine potentially could be explained. I am going to have to wait a while for that appointment because you can't be pregnant or recently miscarried (within 3 months). Frankly, I don't want to wait 3 months, I'm going to try a few more times at least!

So I am definitely going to ask for tests of vitamin deficiencies because I've been doing a lot of reading on that and found that low D, various B vitamins, magnesium, selenium, and others are all associated with recurrent pregnancy loss. I know they also can do some preliminary autoimmune sorts of tests. What else do you think is important? I don't imagine she will do anything that is too far from "routine" but some basics?

Thanks all!

I'm actually going through recurrent m/c testing right now. I've been tested for auto-immunes, and clotting disorders, as well as karyotyping and thyroid function. It took 10 vials of blood, but it was worth it. I haven't gotten the results back yet though. I've got a hysteroscopy coming up as well, which will take a look at the shape of my uterus and the lining.

If nothing turns up on these and I have another m/c, I'm going to start looking into Killer NK cells testing as another option. But that's a bit off into the future...

Hope this helps. :)

I've had the genetic tests, hormone tests, hysterosalpingogram, clotting tests. All they have been able to determine is that my body sometimes won't keep producing the needed progesterone. I had two children to start. My first m/c was a genetic defect, 2 chamber heart instead of 4. Three blighted ovums, followed by 2 more children. One chem, one blighted ovum and another child. 1 more blighted ovum followed by another child and just suffered a mmc at 12w4d which resulted in me hemorrhaging on my bathroom floor at 4am. Still dealing with the intermittent light flow days as that was on 8/6. I would request a full metabolic panel and hormone tests to start with. Sometimes it really is that simple. Sometimes there is no known cause.

Thank you both! She wouldn't order any tests for me! She did say my uterus was "beautiful" lol. She said my "levels" would be all messed up because of the recent miscarriage so there would be no point testing anything...which is bs...oh well.

So....I guess I am back to deciding whether I keep ttc on my own, or stop trying and wait the 12 weeks for my appointment with the specialist. FRUSTRATING.
