My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years and we have had 2 failed IUI attempts. Last week we delighted to have found out that our 3rd one worked with me getting a faint positive confirmed with a second digital test saying I was 1-2 weeks pregnant.
We were so thrilled that finally the thing we never thought could happen has. However yesterday I got spotting and that has now descended into a very heavy period/miscarriage.
I am at a loss at what to do next and how to carry on and would love to hear from anyone that has had similar experiences.
I am in the UK and the NHS will not offer any more IUIs - only IVF now but I am wondering if IVF is the right option if this showed I did get pregnant through an IUI?
Also how long have people waited before going for IVF after a chemical pregnancy/miscarriage? I want to give myself the best chances of IVF working.
I should point out that to date we are a case of ‘unexplained fertility’ but I suspect I have some level of endometriosis as there is a family history of it.
any helps and thoughts greatly welcomed x

I don't really have any answers but didn't want to read and run. I am so sorry for your loss. I think the fact that waited so long to get that bfp seems to make it even more difficult. As you have unexplained infertility there is always the chance you can conceive naturally. Or you may want to try IVF. I think it is probably a discussion to have with your specialist.

We decided to ttc number 1 in April 2011, it took us 19 months to get our first bfp which resulted in a mc at 6 weeks. We got our bfp whilst waiting for an appointment for the FS. I had day 21 bloods done at this point and DH had his sperm tested - all was ok. After my mc an appointment came through and they told us as we had got pregnant to go away and try again. 11 months later we got our 2nd bfp but again I miscarried at 6 weeks. We saw another FS and he did cd3 bloods - ovarian reserve good and I had a scan and physically I looked good. So there was no reason for us not to conceive. FS thought there could be a recurrent mc issue but they wouldn't do anything until I had another mc. 7 months later I got my 3rd bfp and this resulted in my DS. By the time he was born the journey had taken 4 years! Now we are ttc number 2. We conceived straight away but I miscarried again at 6 weeks. I'm worried that I do have a recurrent miscarriage problem and maybe I just got lucky with DS. But I will need to go through another 2 losses before I will be seen for recurrent miscarriages because they are not consecutive. I also suspect that I may have had or still have endometriosis. Its in my family and I always had painful periods, until I had DS. If you have endometriosis it can increase your risk of miscarriage. I wonder if that's why I lost my first 2 babies and my third loss was chance or chromosomal - who knows! Anyway I hope you get your rainbow soon. They will be worth the wait trust me!

I am so sorry for all you have been through. I can't help with personal experiences, but if you decide to move onto IVF, I would recommend you consider combining yr treatment with PGS NGS. Unfortunately there are too many reasons why mc might happen. I think you should check in with yr doc to do additional tests to see if there are any underlying medical issues. Good luck
