Okay ladies, I need advice. After our insemination yesterday and our doctor telling us it probably won't work we are weighing other options. Of course we hope by some miracle that the IUI worked, but we are trying to realistic.
Our fertility doctor says to start IVF/ICSI, but we also have the option to repair DH's vericocele that is causing some of the problems with his count. We don't know what to do! We can start the IVF next cycle (or whatever protocol they would start me on...but either way it would begin), or we can have him have surgery and wait and see if it works.
I am so scared of the IVF process, but want a baby so bad. Any advice from someone in the same situation or people going through IVF would help!
Thanks a million!

Hey Emby

I would definitely google the results of the surgery on a varicole and see what people say - if the surgery can have good results with no side effects then it may be worth it in the long run??

Or you could go for ICSI and see what happens - I guess it boils down to cost and the odds of conceiving via IVF?

What about agreeing to 1 go of IVF and if it doesn't work having the surgery?

I am equally petrified of having IVF and the trauma people seem to go through - hoping DH's count might have miraculously doubled so we can have IUI but very doubtful!

Good luck :dust:

To be honest I'd have him do the surgery. IVF/ICSI is a long, drawn out process and if a simple operation could save the heartache, the time and the pain of having to go through it then that would be a better option.

Thanks girls! We are off to see Dh's urologist today to gather more information. Hopefully we can come to a conclusion about what to do after the appointment. Along with being scared about IVF, we are also struggling with the idea of IVF based on our Christian faith. It is difficult to determine what is morally right to do with all the decisions one has to make. "Baby Steps" is what I am going to call our decision making process. One decision at a time!

Curly Sue, I read a portion of your blog you posted. I hope all goes well for you :o)
And, SOME Americans do have talent and aren't ridiculous fools as some people on those television shows. HAHA (I actually have NO talent whatsoever, except clumsiness) HAHA Wishing the best for you!!
