What would you do?

Well ladies, the news was not good for immediate TTC. The specialist took a look and said the area he is concerned with is small, but since I have been getting abnormal papa smear results for about five years now he wants it removed. Apparently my body isn't able to fight off the virus. Therefore a LEEP will be done and I will have to WTT. It is unclear as to how long we will be on hold. I am very upset about it. I feel like I have already been waiting for too long.

So sorry u have to wait a bit longer....:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:
Did they say 6 months?

You are still only 36, though.....you have time....:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

The answer about WTT was vague. I was crying and unable to form any questions. Eventhough I wanted to. I am going back to my regular GYNO for the procedure and I feel more comfortable with her. I am sure she will be able to tell me what I need to know. I will just have to wait for the answer. At the moment  and :wine:

Big :hugs: are comming your way, i hope and pray that you will be back to TTC very soon, with a clean bill of health :hugs:

I actually just turned 37. What a great birthday present.

Hey Viking, sorry about the bad news.....

I've had the procedure done a few years ago. (Loop diathermy - I think this is the same).I was in and out of day surgery in a few hours. I bled a little after the procedure but it wasnt much. My gynae told me we could start :sex: again as soon as the bleeding had stopped. He also told me that there is a risk of incompetent cervix during pregnancy but it is VERY rare if only having the procedure done once. He said if its done 3 or more times the risk of IC becomes high, but is often overcome with a cerclage.

I've since had a little boy, and all pap smears since have been normal. I've also mc'd twice since my son was born but this had nothing to do with my cervix.

Good luck with everything. xx

Just did a bit more reading and realised that alot more cervical tissue is removed with a cone biopsy than a loop diathermy, depending on the severity.

But when you fall pregnant, they'll keep checking the length of your cervix and give you a cerclage if needed.

Well, I had the procedure on the 20th. Nothing to really say except that it got pretty uncomfortable at the end. I believe the cauterization is what hurt. I went home and laid in bed for the rest of the day and popped advil. I was in quite a bit of pain the first day, but after that I was alright. I was notified no sex, tampons, swimming, baths for 30 days. No gym for 10 days. I am pretty bummed. Missing out on yet another cycle. Hopefully we will get a green light to go for it on my follow up exam.
Thanks for all the input and kind words ladies. :dust:

:hugs: but at least it is done now so you know that you've done everything to ensure your future health.

FX that you get the greenlight on followup, and in the meantime totally try and enjoy all the stuff you need to give up when TTC/pg, like drinking and sushi!
