Whats best? Im confused. Please help!

The initial plan was after baby i would go back to work in Jan on part time hours and also have SMP.
and OH stay full time (just taking two weeks off for newborn baby)

We cant afford for me to be a Stay at home mum and not work.

My OH has a low paid job wih ridiculous hours meaning he would hardly be home... whereas i have a 9-5, mon to fri job and have weekend and evenings off. so we were thinking that i was maybe the one to stay full time working and he could work PT and also stay home with baby (while also doing an ebay shop which he has started)

Now any thoughts would be great? we really need two wages coming in regardless and my FT job at the moment has more potential.

Now i have no idea if this woud make any difference to SMP? Tax? Benifits?

HELP . DONT HAVE A CLUE what we would be due. Our combined wage (doing it either way) is over 20K.

Also would we be better off if he quit his job altogether and was just a stay at home dad??

Im not an expert but i'd say your idea of you going to work and your OH staying at home would be the best idea. Either that or would it not be an idea for your OH to try and find a part time job and then you can claim working tax credits to help top up your wage?

I know SMP isnt worth the hassle if your planning on staying off work after the 6 months initially. Also if your planning on using a nursery for any type of childcare look into Busy bees vouchers as they save you money. You dont pay as much tax on your salary as this is taken out of your wage every month and paid direct to nursery.
