What's going on? 1 week late 2 - tests?

I have never ever been more than 3 days late(that's with extreme stressing about it), and I'm now 1 week late. I took a test when I was 2 days late and it came out negative and today (middle of the day) I took another and it's a big fat negative.. Although when the test was soaking up my urine I sweare I saw 2 lines :/ but after a few minutes 1 line. My mom never got positive pregnancy tests when she was pregnant with me, after going so long without a period she got a blood test and it was +. Could I be the same way or is it because Ive been using cheap dollar store tests, should I try a more expensive one?
