Whats the metro/subway/train/bus like where you are?

I'm hoping to be able to drive most places when bubba gets here but parking in Edinburgh is a nightmare, so I'll be using buses a fair bit. They are usually jam packed with buggies as soon as you get on, or there are people sitting where it clearly states is a space for parents with buggies or a wheelchair. So I'm practicing my "oi, move" face LOL!! Either that or I'll just take little 'un in a sling :)

I was in Edinburgh a few days ago, it is kind of crazy in the buses, but I did find seats every time, although not in the designated places, but on the upper deck. I guess it was crazy because of the tram construction everyone was getting a bus instead of driving? I would definitely use a sling!

I'm a London commuter and picked up my 'Baby on Board' badge at around 16 weeks. I started wearing it at about 19 weeks. More for me to keep the seat I have as I can stand for a few stops but I then get really bad back pain. Plus it is to hopefully give me a little more room if I am on a crowded train.

I live at the start of the tube line so I always get a seat in the morning. I also go right to the front or back of the tube so there is more chance of getting a seat. If the train is busy and there is another one a few mins behind I'll wait.

I've been offered a seat once when changing trains to one with no seats and the other two times I was ignored. If you look around when you are on the tube most of the time people don't even look up when people get on to see if there is anyone that looks like they need a seat.

I went to Liverpool today which is around a 10 minute Train ride, the train was heaving and not ONE person offered me a seat, some even pushed past so they could get the 1 seat that might be available!! It really makes me mad how people are, I might not have taken the seat but to be offered one is good! I look pregnant now so its not like they couldn't tell. Some even looked at my bump and went back to reading their paper.
I would have offered my seat up to an elderly person if needed but I think that times have changed unfortunately :growlmad:

xx

I live in New York City, and sometimes you will find nice people that give up their seat for you but most of the time if I can't find one I'm left standing until my stop. My husband usually gets on the train 1st so that he can save me a seat, but I usually just make sure my kids have a seat before I do.

God we were there a few weeks ago - the tram works are INSANE! Considering we're a part of our town that's currently got two tram lines being dug in and built on - I'll never complain about the couple of sets of traffic lights that are the sum total of our disruption again!

^ the de tour to walk around the construction got on my nerves as I walked most of the time (weather was good). Hope they end soon.
