Please tell me that we are not alone...!!
Ever since LO turned 7wks she has literally tried to eat her hands every opportunity.
It isn't hunger, tiredness, she doesn't want a dummy, it isn't wind / trying to make herself sick.
Is it because she has just found her hands??
I really don't remember my son doing this.
I have tried giving her a teether to munch on (not that I think she is teething), blanket to suck but she still wants her hands.
And I mean the whole entire fist - I had to help remove it from her chops the other day :haha:
Of course if she shoves it in too far she is sick
Surely after 4 weeks the novelty would wear off?
Not only that the dribble, it is like a river, I have to change her about 6 times in a day!!

It's normal and it is how babies explore things. Everything, and that includes hands goes in their mouths. I tend to let Oliver as long as it isn't something that is going to harm him.

You remember that film Turner and Hooch and there is a scene with the dog drooling everywhere and then he shakes his head and the drool goes everywhere? I can't help but think of this everytime I reach for a muslin to wipe Oliver's dribbly chops!

haha yep... constantly munch on hands and fingers and constantly gagging himself with them! completely normal... soon enough they will be able to pick up toys and do it!

Naomi sometimes puts so much of her hand in her mouth that she is nearly sick:dohh: Like you i've tried dummies, teethers etc but i think the likes the soft warm feeling of her fingers. She has been sucking her thumbs a bit too. Sometimes she'll suck a muslin cloth over her hand, she is always covered in baby spit! It's just a comfort thing.

same my LO loves his hands, particulary fond of the left!

My daughter is exactly the same (12 weeks). I've bought some bandana bibs to stop the dribble making her clothes damp close to her skin. They look way nicer than normal bibs and you can get them in such a large range of colours (so you can match to outfits).

My 11 week old is constantly munching on his fist. Or licking his wrist!!
He also likes to try to eat the shoulder straps of dungarees!

Jake's 7 weeks and he's doing this. Been doing it for ages! I thought he was trying to find his thumb but he seems quite content with every finger going in there! Bless him!

Bobby always had his hands in his mouth - he gags himself quite a bit with his fingers lol

mine does this too, at first i thought it was cause he was hungry, but now he does it ass the time :), if anything gets to close to the mouth he will push it in, blanket, shirt, straps... :)

oooh that sounds like a good idea.
where are they from???

I am glad that Ella isn't alone in this strange activity.
I have to keep washing her hands as they stink of sick and acid when she forces them in too far. And then she picks up all the fluff (carpet, jumpers, blankets etc and has finger fluff instead of toe fluff!)
This morning she had the hungry caterpillar in her mouth.
I guess whatever makes her happy, just wish at 4am in her sleep she would suck her hands/arms/thumb/fingers quietly.
