My baby's still on slow flow teats.

When should I change and why?

Thanks!

When we changed formula to AR we moved to size 2 (@ 8 wks). Then we changed bottles to Dr. browns & we moved to size 3 (@ 12 wks)

My hv told me it depends on the child. I used tt teats and went up to size 2 after around 5 weeks even though the reccomendation is 3 months. My lo was always sucking so hard that the teat collapsed. Shes a lot happier on the bigger size.

If you lo is happy on the current size I wouldnt swop, it just may take a while to feed them as the mik will come out at a slower rate.

we use sie 3 teets as we use a thick formula. But before we changed kacey made it very obvous that she needed the bigger teets. SHe would get very frustrated. So if your lo ois happy stay as you are. Your lo will make it obvoius when they need bigger ones

We first changed teats when my LO was taking towards an hour to drink a smallish bottle and falling asleep because he was having to work too hard and getting bored. This was at about 5 weeks.

We then changed again when we switched to a thicker formula at about 3 months. He's been on size 3 teats since then.

We are on tommee tippee teats and bottles.

Just changed Anna onto size 2 this week-Anna has just turned 3 months. Over the last month she has been thrashing around while feeding etc. I tried her a few times on size 2 a few weeks ago but she coughed the bottle back up and it didnt go down well. But tried again on monday and all is going well now:flower:

I think my O is happy on 1's. Se was sucking too hard when she first started bottle feeding as I think you may have to work harder breastfeeding. The thing is, when she first started bottle feeding she's finish her feed comparatively quickly so would think she was still hungry.

She takes about 20mins for a bottle but I wouldn't want her to go any quicker as I get 20 minutes to chill and feed her!

We moved up when Luke started to fall asleep at the bottle (like 2 mins in) :) he's on Avent number 3, and TT number 2's atm :)

Evie's on Avent stage 3 and has been for a about a month. We changed cos the teats kept collapsing from her sucking so hard on them and she would take aaaaaaages to finish a bottle. With the stage 3 ones, she'll finish a 6 oz in under 10 minutes ;)

We use TT bottles and at the minute Hannah has size 1 teats and vari flow teats. She can take anywhere between 20 mins to 45 mins to finish her bottle and she has about 6-8 ozs. Sometimes it can take 45 mins for her to finish her last bottle on a night as she is so tired and keeps falling asleep. We persevere and she more or less finishes it. We tried her on the size 2 teats and she was just dribbling everywhere, plus when she was really hungry she would drink the bottle really quickly and then be sick. So we decided to stick with the size 1 & vari flow teats for the time been. Its only her last bottle on a night it takes abit longer, but i would rather her take longer than bringing it all back up. x

Adam moved from size 1 (TT CTN) at about 4 months - he started to get easily distracted, fussy, pulling away, seemed to be fed up. I switched to variflow and he was soon downing his whole (6-7oz) bottle in 10 minutes. Have stayed with variflow because he won't take size 2 or 3, for some unknown reason. Only problem with variflow is that the cross in the teat rips open further after a while and the milk pours out - I've had to replace my set of 4 about 4 times now.
