Sorry, I know there's probably 100's of previous threads the same but I can't find them.

When did you stop sterilising I've read guidelines anywhere from 6 months - 12 months. When was right for you?

I still do Dominic's bottles and dummy's but nothing else. Can't wait to stop all together.

Though if items had been through the dishwasher there's no need to sterilise.

I wash my bottles in the dishwasher so I have not sterilized with a pot of boiling water in quite some time. I only do when I have bought new bottles or DD has been a bit sickish.

I only ever sterilized a new bottle or pacifier, and never after that first time. My pediatrician said there was no need for it, and just to wash in hot soapy water or dishwasher.

This is what we do, too.

I did it slowly, I assumed stopping all at once could be harsh.

I stopped at 4 months, but "eased" into it by not sterilizing a few/sterilizing some over a few days. Just felt like I shouldn't do it all at once but that's just me. I called my health line here in Canada and they told me 4 months.

I don't sterilize anything now, but I do wash in scolding hot water. Always sterilize new items though :)

With dd I stopped at 12 months. That's when my HV said I could - maybe things have changed since then though

If I can choose I will probably stop at 9 months or so :)

I will stop sterilising at 12 months, just as I did with my son. I know as they get older they pick things up off the floor etc and put it in their mouths but that doesn't mean I still shouldn't minimise it where I can. It is one of the guidelines that I will not ignore but everyone has their own preference as to when to stop.

Iv always stopped at 12 months and will do with lo again

I stopped once I stopped using formula. That's the reason to sterilise, not general germs. It gets rid of any left over milk hiding which can cause bacteria, even if you use a dishewasher.

For us, it was just before 6 months (5 months and 2 or 3 weeks ish?). We were going on holiday to our family's beach house, which is very remote, and doesn't have running water or electricity - so bringing the electric or microwave sterilisers weren't an option and I just couldn't bring myself to go back to using milton's as a I hate it. So we stopped just shy of 6 months. I just made sure I always rinsed bottles well after using and washing in hot (just recently boiling) soapy water and I made sure I made formula according to the package (no topping up with cold boiled water, etc.). I never sterilised dummies or toys or anything like that.

Honestly, I never sterilized. We were told by the doctor that we didn't have to. We were also told that we didn't have to boil the water for formula. It seems like every doctor has different rules...

I stopped just before 12 months with dd (because I ran out of sterilising solution!). This time I'll stop at 12 months as I use a microwave steriliser.

I stopped at 12 months with my older two. Reading this has made me think I might stop earlier this time! I only sterilise bottles or bits of my breast pump. My daughter won't actually take a bottle but I try every day! I sterilise because I thought the milk could harbour bacteria. I hate it and find it a real hassle.

I stopped sterilising when we stopped using formula milk, my ds was 11.5 monhs old.

The advice seems to vary depending on where you live but i read that you should always sterilise bottles etc when using formula so thats what i did. My hv told me if i waited until lo was 6 mths to start weaning then i didn't need to sterilise bowls, spoons etc.

I was told that breast milk is sterile so I don't rigorously sterilise. I sterilise my breast pump and the bottle teats every couple of days but my bottles and shields only few days-every week.
