When are you planning to get rid f bottles?

The dummy thread got me wondering lol.

Logan drank all his milk from cups by ten months old so I kind of want to get rid of my 8 month olds bottles soon too.

However, when I gave him milk in a cup a few weeks ago he was devastated. It's going to take some getting used to for him!

He drinks water from a cup perfectly so he can use one

I got rid of them at a year when we switched to cow's milk.

I got him a new beaker that he hadn't drunk anything out of before or even seen, and put the cow's milk in. He took to it straight away I think it worked well because it was a new drink in a new container. I didn't try the formula in a beaker because I thought he might reject it since he was used to that particular one being in a bottle.

Ideally we'll do it at one year. Charlotte currently has 4 bottles during the day. I don't think we'll have an issue getting rid of the morning, late morning or late afternoon bottles, but I anticipate bedtime being a challenge. I think she finds it soothing. We may keep that one until 18 months or so.

I'm not really sure. PJ still won't eat solids so he really needs his bottles. I think usually at 1 year though and will hopefully be able to switch to sippy cups by then.

To aid the transition I never give anything but formula in a bottle. Even cows milk gets put in cups or sippy cups and when we transition over at 1 year then the bottles will get phased out by 13 months as we replace feeds in bottles with cups of milk.

Our eldest stopped having milk in a bottle at 12 months, from 10 months he only wanted a bedtime one. Our youngest seems to be going the same way lately, he's just gone right off milk. I wouldn't ditch them until they were ready though, i'd encourage them to switch from a year if they hadn't already, but same with dummies, eldest has only just got rid of his at 2 years, our youngest will probably be the same.
