Hello!

I'm on cycle #5 10DPO AF due on Saturday, i'm going to see family on Thursday till Sunday which is a nice distraction from waiting!

My question is when did you or do you go to the dr's? I know its recommended after a year but surely 6 months is acceptable? I have regular cycles 27 days, been off the pill for 6 months now and would love just to have some sort of conversation with the medical profession!! I pay my taxes!

Anyone else think they dont want to help us TTC as there are already enough people in the world??

Moan over :) Thoughts please ladies xxx

Hi!

Well, I'm on month 3 of TTC #1 so I guess I'll cross that bridge when/if I come to it - probably not until a yr of trying tho. TBH I would go when you want to go - you're exactly right, we do pay our taxes/NI so you should use it and see your dr if you have a worry, health-wise.

Good luck!
xxx

Are you ladies from the UK? Just wondering b/c of the I pay my taxes I should go to the doctor when I want comments.

Anyhow I 1st went to the dr when we decided to begin TTC just to make sure everything is fine. After a few months of trying and no luck I went back and they gyno asked me to wait 18 months until it was "Looked" at since most couple are able to concieve by this time :)

EIGHTEEN MONTHS! Gosh it really is unfair isnt it! I only want a little chat, i'm not asking for a referal or loads of their time lol!

Yes from the UK, well i'm going anyway next week as I get bad nose bleeds and need to get it sorted so I might drop it into conversation!!

Thanks ladies :)

i went at 6months and then asked to wait for another 6months (but I have been waiting to come on, still not here yet!!!!!). anyways, i'm now waiting for an apt to come through the post for the Gynae Cons.

So when will you go back silvershadow? I've never had a smear test and I'm sure you're meant to at 25 so since im a few months off I might just ask if they can do two things at once?! Prob not but i'm sure they can check whilst there there right? :) x

I went back to GP at about 11months. My GP has referred me to Gynaecology, and I'm just waiting for an appointment from the hospital which I should hopefully getting this week (fingers crossed! But I'm not holding my breath as we've had a lot of bank holidays.

So your going to the Dr's with Epistaxis? and your also going to ask for a smear test? You can ask, theres a 50/50 chance that they will! :)

As for the TTC convo with your Dr, have word with them, as soon as they know, the more they can do to help you. :)

My DH and I did it at 2 years.... I know its a long time but we had lots of hope. The Dr. told us to get his sperm looked at first, then they would start testing me. The tests for me HURT!!! but my DH had a good time doing is...... so DH has a low count and I am good to go. I will have my forst IUI done if I dont get my BFP in 9 days. fingers-x, toes-x, eyes-x, arms-x and legs-x

I too am on cycle 5 and 10 dpo! I am actually going in this friday to see the doctor and am going to talk about it then (I am 36 though) I saw him after 2 months of trying, and he said it usually takes people about 3-6 months when timing is perfect. So I will probably start with all the testing if not pregnant this month. DH got a semen analysis last month and had great results, so now its my turn. Although I am afraid of the painful tests!

I got told 1 year and only reason i've got a referral to gynae cons at 6 months is because i've not had a period since coming off the pill and they can't find anything wrong on bloods or ultrasound

I got an appointment for the assisted conception unit after trying for 6 months. I'd been off BC for a year but my AF was still all over the place, had bloods done but as nobody knew where I was in my cycle it was pointless. It was my CD21 progesterone test that finally got me my appointment as it was very low.

Hey silvershadow- just a quick question...

Are you under the city or county council? don't want to sound like a stalker but I live in the same place and have recently mentioned my concerns about ttc to my GP (after 6 ms ttc) and was told the pct changed their rules at christmas and now won't refer anyone until they've been trying for two years!! did you get through before this change do you think?? I will almost definitely go mad if I have to wait that long!! cheers for your help xx

I went after we'd been trying for a year and I'd say that was about right. They wouldn't of referred us to the fs before that

I had to google it, but I fall within the County Council. I first approached the GP's in August, then again in December, and then finally again a few weeks ago, and am now waiting for the letter from Hosp. I dont know whether that helps at all. Let me know how you get on.
x

A year normally, I went at 8 months and we got referred due to my irregular cycles, just got my DH SA results back today all normal

In the UK it is usually 6 months if 35 or over. But if you are under 35, you are supposed to see a doctor when it has been 1 year, but they usually ask you to come back when it has been two years. From experience, they wont even order tests for you unless you've been trying for two, nevermind refer you to an FS.
xx

Damita thats great bout the SA results! Yay :)

So we're pretty much left to our own devices on the NHS front then...Makes me laugh as you dont get any care before conception and then from what i've heard during pregnancy isnt great care either..My sister had her baby last Monday, she had a blood test which came up at 8 (I think it needs to be over 12?) and they left her and her new born baby for over 10 hours without peeking in and seeing if she was ok! They forgot to feed her and her OH had to get her food from the hospitol shop as they ran out!

We'll get there ladies :) I guess this also shows the difference in DR's from around the UK of which ones will and won't give a little bit of help! I've only been to mine once with my nose bleeds which i've been having for the last 6 years constantly, an she told me to come back in 4 weeks if it keeps happening LOL! Of course they kept happening, they wern't just going to stop after this many years eh ;-)

xx

I went at 6 months and my doctor told me to go back if we reach the 1 year mark. So we went at the 1 year mark and get our tests done.
If you want to go, go but they don't consider 6 months that long.

Thanks for the info ladies. I know I've def got to hang in there a bit longer before getting too stressy about things! Hope all goes well for all of you and you never know maybe some of us will actually get our BFP soon!xxx

Hi Guys! Just wanted to pop back to let you know what the DR said....It was SO funny, and VERY awkward but in a funny way...

So I told him about my nose bleeds an then said, while i'm here i've been TTC for 7 months now...so he asks if i've been pregnant b4, no, smoke, no, exercise, yes, then he draws me a picture of a line and tells me I should ovulate on day 13 as my cycles are 27 days and (these are his exact words I kid you not!) "On days 9-15 you need to have sex until it becomes a chore" made me chuckle anyway! He also said the egg only lasts for 12 hours so I dont know how true that it....Anyway he told me to come back in 6 months and even then he thinks another 6 months on that so 18 months of TTC....

And I see Miss Divine is a "teeny bit pregnant" YAY thats SO fab! Congrats :) xx
