When can you/did you go to the Dr's TTC #1

Kopgirl 1982 I see you are a weeny bit pregnant too!! Yay!!!!!!! Is this a result of the assisted conception unit? x

i went at 6 months and my doctors started testing me then, at the 9month mark the doctor wanted my OH to do a SA but we have to pay to go private so had to wait longer becuase of money but i got tested at 6 months, i think it depends on your doctor

Im in the states so I went right away! They don't mind since you have to pay for it out of pocket :/ My cycles were irregular so she actually started doing blood work (at my request) after a few months. After all of the blood work (still waiting on one last test, all the rest were normal despite the irregularities) she'll probably tell me to wait a year.

my doc wouldnt help when we first went at about 4 months and said there were no blood tests or anything he could do (even though I knew he could), went back at about 7 months and got general bloods done which showed I have an underactive thyriod and he booked SA for DH earliest appt isn't until August though, he also said he would do CD3 and CD21 bloods next cycle but I am on CD67 today and BFN's still waiting for AF, went back to see if he would help induce AF and he said no and he won't treat thyroid either instead he wants to retest thyroid in another 8 weeks (so that adds another 2 months on!)! my Mum thinks he is just holding us back until the 1 year mark!
Doctors eh! ya would think we were asking for this stuff for free! like you said..we pay our taxes!

Hello!

I'm on cycle #5 10DPO AF due on Saturday, i'm going to see family on Thursday till Sunday which is a nice distraction from waiting!

My question is when did you or do you go to the dr's? I know its recommended after a year but surely 6 months is acceptable? I have regular cycles 27 days, been off the pill for 6 months now and would love just to have some sort of conversation with the medical profession!! I pay my taxes!

Anyone else think they dont want to help us TTC as there are already enough people in the world??

Moan over :) Thoughts please ladies xxx
hi! this is my first month TTC, but I had some appointments with my dr, because I suffer from PCOS... he said, that in theory, you should wait a year, but he said if I dont get pregnant at all in the next 3 months, to go and see him! I think it depends on the dr, I felt DH and I had great chemistry with him, as he was making me feel positive, that even tho I suffer of PCOS, I have my chances!

Take the risk, make an appointment, I mean, what can happen anyways? all the best luck for you!!! :flower:

I went after the hubby and I were trying for 2 years. My sister is an OB nurse so she told what doctor all the nurses use and that is the one I went to. He did bloodwork right away on me and within a week, he had me on Clomid. I have to go back after this cycle is done for either an exam, a pregancy test, or for him to up my dosage.

When I went to my dr's to talk about coming off the BCP, he recommended at that stage for DH to get a SA done (which he didn't). Last week, after 9 months of TTC, we both went back to our dr's. I've been sent for blood tests and DH was referred for SA. My dr says that once all the results are back he will look at them all and decide whether we need referred to the fertility clinic.

Now, we're both over 35, but DH's dr (who is not the same dr as mine) said that we weren't old to be TTC and were in fact younger than most people he sees.

We're still the NHS in NI, but the set up is slightly different. I don't know whether that makes a difference.
