I just had my second M/C on December 27th. I had my first miscarriage in September which required a D&C and got pregnant after one normal cycle. My Dr. said it was okay to start trying after one cycle, but I'm wondering if TTC too soon caused the 2nd miscarriage. Can anyone offer any other advice? I'd like to try before my first cycle, but don't want to risk another M/C...don't think I could handle another one :(

I just only know that my DR told me that it was OK to TTC after one cycle *IF* there was no D&C - which in my case there wasn't. So, that must mean that he recommends women to wait longer, but I am sure there are so many varying opinions out there among DR's. You will never know if that was it, or not - so please don't even let yourself go there with blame. Perhaps waiting a couple cycles isn't a bad idea tho.

I got a leaflet after my ERPC from the Miscarriage Association which says that doctors will normally recommend you to wait for your next period for dating purposes until you try again but it goes on to say that if you get pregnant before your next period, then there is no reason to suggest it will happen again.

So I personally think you can try again as soon as you are ready. My ERPC was last Monday and we plan to start trying again soon. Good luck in trying an so sorry for your losses xxx

Sorry to hear your news. I had an ERPC on the 16th of December and I was told to wait til my next cycle before I try again, mainly for dating purposes. I do however feel that I am pretty run down and stressed still which I figure can't be good for any oncoming pregnancy so I am going to wait til I feel "well". If that's the next cycle I'll give it a go, if not I think I'll wait.
Good luck for next time, I am sure 09 will be your year
xxx

I agree with orange lady above as well, if you don't feel emotionally ready to start straight away, then this could possibly affect your next pregnancy. I definitely feel ready to try again, both emotionally and physically. This experience has been the hardest thing I've ever been through but I feel ready to move on. If it happens to me again (God forbid), then I kinow I will be strong enough to go through this again, but hopefully it won't come to that.

Good luck with whatever you decide xxx

Thanks ladies. I think we might wait until our next cycle. As a precaution my dr. may start me on progesterone suppositories again and baby aspirin...just incase.

Sorry for your loss.

Like everyone has said its reccomended that you wait atleast one cycle. But maybe for your own peace of mind wait the 3 cycles as also reccomended by some Drs.

Best of luck for when you are ready again. xxxx

I dont think it really matters. I was told to wait for 3 months of which we did then when we did try again after the 1st, I had another.

I think if you are going to miscarry, then you will regardless of when you try again.

Good luck darling xxx

Hi there

So sorry to hear of your two losses. I have had one m/c in 2007 and am currently 10 1/2 wks preg with my fingers and toes crossed that it goes well this time.
After my m/c I was advised by the midwife in the EPAU to wait at least 2-3 cycles, this was without a D&C. I have heard of people trying straight away though and things are fine. It's important not to blame yourself. Everyone says if it's not meant to be then it won't but that was a saying that I found hard to understand because alot of babies are born unwanted and mine was very much wanted.
I really hope all goes well for you the next time, try your best to take it easy and relax. I know how devastating it is and I still think about my first one all the time.
Take care

xx

Hiya, I miscarried today and my D&C is wed. I have been told to start trying again after 2 normal cycles.

Not sure if this helps but i will wait for 2 cycles before we try again. XXX
