I went to my Dr on friday as I wanted to see her about something completely different than Pregnancy but found I was pregnant that day so told her. She told me that I should take a test in 2 weeks then call in and book an appointment with a midwife? Does this sound right because I was quite excited and I was not sure If i was to book it for that week or for another 2 months time? sorry for the dumb questions:wacko:

Hi, i went to see my midwife at 6 weeks-the same week i had my pregnancy confirmed. But this was because i suffer with high bp and on meds for it, the gp and midwife are keen on seeing me regularly to keep a check on things. Ive seen her twice now (almost 11 weeks gone now).

Im not sure when the usual time is to see a midwifw to be honest though.

Congrats by the way!

keely.

I'm in Canada and went to my GP for the first ten weeks, my OB at 13 weeks. They really can't do much this early on in pregnancy. At my first appointment (I was 4.5 weeks along) she did some paperwork on me and sent me for blood work to confirm the pregnancy (but not every place does this). I went back at 10 weeks for a physical and she referred me to my OB. Now I go in once a month to see my OB.

its nomally between 8+12 weeks depending on your situation and health, if you really worried about anything though push too see a midwife at your doctors or brook advisery clinics generally have a midwife depending if you young enough to go there (13-24 i think)

I've got my first appointment with mine on wednesday (at 9 weeks) ours likes to see us at 8 weeks but she's on holiday. :dohh:

My first appointment is at 7 weeks + 2. I think they just like you to get thought a few weeks first but you can see your Dr in the meantime with any worries - I've seen mine a couple of times and I've found it reassuring.

:hi:
i'm off to the GP tomorrow with my good news, so i'll be gathering as much info on this......will let you all know what i find out

:headspin:

I didnt see my midwife till I was 12 weeks. I hated waiting!!

I am in Canada as well. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I had an appointment with my doctor. I go every 4 weeks to my normal doctor until the beginning of my third trimester when I start seeing my gynecologist.

I'm in the US.I have my first ob/gyn appointment on thursday,8 weeks along...
Good luck!

I'm going to my "checking in" appointment next week (10 weeks) and having nuchal fold scan around 12 weeks. I feel like i have been brushed aside not quite sure if this timing is normal. Thought they would do test sooner?:hissy:

I'm in Canada too. I just had my first appointment with the midwife today, I'm six weeks. I have not been to see my regular doctor as I have decided to bypass him completely. She basically told my hubby and I what midwives do, how they differ and are similar to my doctor and all sorts of other great info.

We told her we were happy to stay with her and she ordered up all my blood work and booked me a dating ultrasound for March 18, I'm very excited! My next appt with the midwives is March 26, when I will get the internal exam and answer more detailed questions and stuff.

I have my first midwife appointment this coming Thursday when I'll be almost 12 weeks. Feels like I've been waiting forever!!
