My husband and I are expecting our first in February. :) We started picking things out a few weeks ago, but didn't actually put them on the registry. Well last week I went to look and most of the stuff we picked out are pretty much gone now due to the season change. It hit me that all of the spring stuff, which is what we will need more of since it starts to get warmer when baby will be a few weeks old, won't be out December/January. I don't want the registry to be a last minute thing, but also don't want to have to keep making changes as things come in for the next season. Anyone else having a baby around the change of the season and having this issue?

Are you worried about the cloths? There are so many cute things, I'm sure, left to their own devices, people will be able to pick out really cute things, appropriate for the season. I wouldn't worry about it too much. just try to add what you can, when you can. Worse comes to worse, you can always exchange for something you like more.

I'd just register for everything except clothes and sleeping bags (can't think of anything else that is season specific) But if you go ahead with everything else, it should be easy to just add those few things at the end I would think.

I had a registry with my first and didn't put clothes on there at all. I don't think people really buy much from registries anyway, and especially not the clothes from a registry. They're much more likely to buy whatever they think is cute - lol. So I wouldn't worry about clothes at all.

I made a "registry" a few weeks ago, but it's private and won't be shared unless a family member asks. It's more just a list for me so I know what I still have left to buy.

I agree with the other ladies, do not register for clothes. I wish I didn't. People LOVE to pick out cute outfits and you will get them regardless if you put them on your registry so I would stick to the universal everyday items that you'll need.

I have found that to be true also, cloths aren't necessary on a registry. For one, it's so true, no one sticks to the registry when it comes to cloths. Most people like to buy the "utility" stuff... Bottles, sheets, cups, etc. and they tend to pick out stuff on their own anyway. But there's so much fun stuff, I m sure you'll get some great things!

Yeah, I don't plan on having clothes on there. We are having a girl so I know everyone will have fun with that. lol I was just talking about the big stuff like strollers/carseats/pack and play. It just seemed that the patterns that I liked switched at the start of the new season. I think it was just a mini pregnancy hormone freak out that the stuff I picked out is now different. lol

Oh, hmm. I've never noticed patterns on strollers and pnp's changing with the seasons. I doubt it changes that fast. I think if you started picking out things now, you'll be fine! :)

I agree! Clothes you should wait til closer anyway, and it will be easy to just take a day and go around the store picking stuff out and scanning it. People usually just select their own choices for clothes, anyhow, and might use your registered clothes for ideas for what you like/what sizes you want. Clothes and blankets tend to be what people pick out on their own even when you register, which isn't bad because I like to do some of my own clothes shopping for my kid anyway :)

Oh, for strollers and other big stuff, they don't tend to change very frequently. They still carry the one I got for my son years ago! You should be good on that, and if for some reason it changes, I'd guess it would just be one of your big itema not all of them- they would have a comparable one and it will be simple enough to pick out another one or just find it in a different store.

We made a registry on babylist as soon as we knew gender! Ive only registered for a couple super cute newborn outfits that we wouldn't necessarily get ourselves and onesies that will last through the seasons. Otherwise, mainly practical stuff. I haven't faced a lot of our items being seasonal though!

I did the same thing, I have a private registry that I'm using as a list for myself. I also like that target for instance (i think babies r us does it too) but at a certain point after your 'baby shower' date and before your due date usually, they will send you a 15% off coupon for anything remaining on your registry. My plan is to basically put everything we need on there and if no one is interested in knowing we have one, then buying everything after I get that coupon.

Thanks for the advice ladies!! :)
