When did you stop using your Angelcare/nanny?

Hi there,

I have a 'nanny' in my LO cot which I've used since she was a few weeks old for all her naps & bedtime so far. The last 3 nights the alarm has gone off as she's moved from where the sensor pad is!

So I wondered at what age did you stop using an alarm in LO's bed?

I don't know if I should buy another pad or leave her now?!xxx

I had this problem but im so stupidly paranoid since a family members baby died of SIDS that i just cant bear the thought of not having a sensor monitor! I moved the sensor pad so its diagonal and doesnt really go off anymore (althought saying that, it did last night!) even though my little man moves all over the place! Id say to stop using it whenever you feel comfortable, lots of people probably stop well before their LO's are as old as mine but im sure lots carry on for a lot longer too

I would think you need to turn up the dial to make it more sensitive. If you play with it & figure out the right setting it shouldnt go off anymore.

I still use it and my LO is over 10 months. I can't bear to turn it off yet and can't imagine when I will - probably when he's 18!

I still use it and my LO will be one on Tuesday and will keep on using it until she moves into a bed. It really gives me such peace of mind and helps me sleep. My Lo moves all around the cot during the night but don't really have any problems. The pad is in the middle of the cot and it is on the highest sensitivity.

We still use ours now. The only difference is we don't put the parent monitor on when we're just in the next bedroom, but we know we can hear if Ethan cries or if the alarm goes off. I don't see any problem with still using it. We still use the parent monitor downstairs. I wouldn't be without ours. In the summer it was invaluable with the temperature on it, the alarm went off once to tell us it was too hot in his room. It's a really good monitor with no interferrence and I see no need to change it! I think we'll use it until he's in his bed.

Ours has only gone off a couple times. First time he was very light and in the moses basket. We put 2 bits of plywood under the mat as the instructions stated and it never did it again... until when he was about 5mo. It went off. I ran in. He was stirring and went back off to sleep. I have never simply assumed it was a false alarm - how do I know? Maybe he hadn't breathed for the 20 seconds - had stopped breathing - so the alarm did it's job and went off and that shocked him awake again? Either way it's a few nights of getting up for what may or may not be a false alarm with 362 days of peace!

Thanks guys, when you are referring to 'adjusting the sensitivity' is this on the angel care or the nanny? I have a nanny and as far as I'm aware it only has one setting?xx
