Just curious.

If you have a thumb sucker, at what age did they "find" it??

:)

Mine is 13 weeks. He sleeps swaddled (mostly) and he has started to find his hands.

A friends son found his at 14-16 weeks and that puts himself back to sleep.

I'm debating with myself to wean him off his swaddle now he's starting to find his hands but think his Moro reflex is still a bit strong.

My lo tried at 3 weeks old but I put an instant stop to it as I know it's bad for the teeth. Way worse than a dummy. Cute tho :-) x

Ds2 was about 6 months. He tried from around 3 months but he'd get frustrated when he popped it out of his mouth lol.

At about 3 months - always the right thumb and has been ever since!

She did THIS from birth though, which I found heartbreakingly cute!

P.S. As I understand it, thumbsucking poses no risk to developing mouths until the permanent teeth come in, so hopefully our LOs will have quit by then! Mine's a total addict! :)

My son is 3 1/2 months and he just found it a couple of days ago. First it was his fist, and now it's mostly just sucking on the thumb of his right hand.

At every ultrasound we had from 18 weeks on she had her thumb in her mouth, so we knew even before she arrived she would be a thumb sucker. :haha:

Sure enough, at only 3 days old, she found her thumb!

When do they learn to make a fist with their thumb out? My LO always ends up grabbing his nose and poking himself in the eye. It gets him so frustrated

My son is 14 weeks and about a week ago I started keeping one arm out of the swaddle. That's how he started sucking his thumb. He's not ready for both arms out but the transition to one arm out was easy. He didn't wake himself up.
