when do babies start sttn?

My son didn't sttn until he was 12+ months old. He'd sleep in 2 or 3 hour blocks. I was exhausted. He's almost 4 now and still very hard to get to sleep.

My daughter turned 8 weeks old and started sleeping 10+ hours every night, typically from 8 to 6. She also sleeps most of the day. The exact opposite! I have this weird thing called free time I had completely forgotten about!

Babies are all very different

By 3 months I'd established a routine with my little man. Bath at 6 (not every night) pjs on and nappy changed at 6.30pm then bottle and bed for 7. He started STTN as soon as we started putting him upstairs at 7pm. He happily slept 7-7 until a couple of months ago when he started waking up numerous times for no apparent reason. I've just this past week started using white noise at night and he sleeps theough most nights.

My baby doesn't go to bed til between 10 and 11pm, it's not ideal but it's better than as a newborn when bedtime was 1-2am! I can't really move it forwards as she's bf on demand and she spends the evening cluster feeding, and when she's done is when she goes to sleep. I'm just going with it. She usually sleeps through til anywhere between 6.30 and 8am which is fine with me, sometimes she wakes up for a feed about 2 or 3am. It's all very normal.

My eldest daughter was the same, she was still going to bed at 11pm at 5 months. I seem to breed nocturnal kids! Even at 2.5 years she goes to bed about 8.30, I've never had a baby who goes to bed at 7.30 and sleeps 12 hours. My oldest didn't sleep through til she was about 15 months and even now it's not consistent. It's all ok though, they're all individual x

I have tried putting her to bed earlier and it just doesn't work. She takes a 30 minute nap and is up. If I try to put her back down, she screams her head off. She usually wakes up around 8-9am, has a feed and sometimes goes back to bed till 11. The other day she slept till 12:30pm  I would have loved to sleep in too but I just couldn't fall back asleep. I will try putting her down 15 minutes earlier each day and see how it goes.

I do feed her every time she wakes up, maybe she doesn't need it but is rather waking out of habit. Hmm...I will try settling her without offering a feed first.

She has developed a rash on her tummy and is now spreading to her back. She scratches it every now and then but it doesn't seem to be a huge bother. She did stay up very late the past couple of days till 2/3 in the morning. I'm not sure if that is related. She does have eczema on her face and patches on her shoulder. Could be eczema, she has an appointment tomorrow with her paediatrician so I will find out.

This is my LO. He does this exact thing when we try to put him down at 7 or 8. He used to be up past 11 every night. Just the last while, we have transitioned him to a 9:00 bedtime, but 50% of the time, he still treats it as a nap and we are then up until 11. He wakes up at 8 no matter what time he goes to bed. I am at my wits end.
