Hello ladies,

I am due to have my first scan next week, although I might be a bit early - so I guess they will ask me to come back the following week.

Anyhoo, my question is - will they tell me the nuchal fold measurement at that time (if I am in the window) and comment about the risk - or do I need to wait for the blood result before they make any comment? How long does that take?

Have people waited to get the result before announcing?

Many thanks for any advice!

Is that the test where they measure the folds at the back of the neck. Mine is down in my notes as CUBS testing. Anyway I'm in Scotland and things might be different, but they told me I would hear within 8 days if there was a problem and within 21 days otherwise.

I got my letter after about 2 weeks to say I was low risk and that's all it said.

All my family knew I was pregnant by then, but I waited before telling my work colleagues until after I had the result x

I should have my results today 5 days after the scan and blood. The sonographer didnt say anything during the exam other then it looked like a little boy :)

I think its different everywhere. I got to see all the scan pics as well as the results which showed a measurement of 1.99 which I know to be low risk.

I went to the Dr. 3 days after and she just said "oh we haven't heard back about your IPS results so that is good news, you must be low risk!" She told me that, here at least, bad results generally come back within 2-3 days but good results take 2-4 weeks!

What happened with me was that the ultrasound tech took the measurement and told me there and then that it looked normal. Then I had my bloods taken on the same day. If your high risk they call you within a few days but if your low risk they just send a letter out within ten days. They combine the measurement with the blood result to give you an overall risk percentage.

I don't know whether it's standard procedure to tell you what the measurement is at the scan but mine certainly did. Hope this helps :)

They told me at my scan that the measurement seemed ok however the ful result would not be available until the bloods came back. Did my bloods straight after the scan and then heard within a couple of weeks. Nx

Glad you got a good result Sealgirl. :laugh2:

Kdutra - hope you wanted to know the sex!

We got told measurement but that without blood results they couldn't comment as apparently some sonographers had in the past at a small fold being low risk & the results had come back high risk. Our measurement was 1.4mm so we knew it was a good sign. Got results back about 2 weeks later x

we got told the measurement at the the time then I got a letter a week letter with the results from the blood test.

i had mine on my 13 weeks scan they measured the fold infront of me and it was 1.3mm - then took my bloods if there was ANYTHING found they said they'd call asap-but i got a letter two weeks after the scan (which they said they would) with my results, which i got 1:1600 'possibility' x

I was told my measurement and blood results at the same time- 3 days after the test. And the results were all very good so I don't believe good results take any longer than 'bad' results.

Yes we did want to know the gender we asked her to look :). I just got my results back today they are prefect, thank you God! 1: 10,000

Mine just said everything looks normal att he actual scan and then I had blood test and ten days later got results via letter
