When ever i start feeding I always suddenly stop feeling hungry or thirsty. I could have been raving hungry gnawing at the sofa for something to eat but as soon as she latches on I'm not hungry - almost to the point of feeling sick if i tried to eat something. But as soon as Ive stopped feeding - I go back to normal again! Weird!!
Anyone else get this?

I have to force myself to eat as I'm so far from hungry! I've found I'm so dehydrated though!!

its probably caus your body knows you dont have a free hand to eat so shuts off its hunger signals for you, im ravenous 24/7 and forever seem dehydrated so i c ant reall y sympathise

not me, i am always hungry and seem to be constantly drinking. so much so that i gave up filling glasses and keep a litre bottle next to me now

I usually get really thirsty. I haven't noticed with hunger since I always try to have a small snack before nursing to avoid it since my blood sugar tends to plummet if I let myself get too hungry.

Iv never noticed any issues with my hunger (then again iv had a bit of a dodgy appetite recently) but iv noticed as soon as he plugs in i start feeling ridiculously thirsty, i am able to down a full glass of water despite not being thirsty a minute before and usually feelin a bit sick if i drink to much in one go lol xxx

lol - just me then! I thought it must be some kinda of automatic body reflex to stop me from doing anything else. I just find it so strange, that minute I can soooo hugnry then it swicthes off as soon as she latches on.

I as soon as I get let down I feel thirsty unless I'm well hydrated.

I get queasy when my milk lets down. Never happened when I breastfed the older kids but this time I can't eat a bite until Beau is done eating. It has to be a hormone thing because it only happens after let down.

I'm the opposite too - starving hungry half way through feeding and really thirsty too.

Probably a really stupid question - what does let down mean with regard to breastfeeding???? I've seen it written down loads but not sure what it means.

xx

I'm always hungry. I can't even begin to tell you how much food I've dropped on my baby because it's hard to eat one handed.

Its when the milk comes to the front of your breasts for LO to drink.
Have you ever noticed like a filling sensation just after they start suckling?
Iv always called it filling up lol :haha: xxx

That happens to me too! It isn't all the time, but probably about half of all feeds are like that... But I think it's because at the start of a feed, I also get a massive moodswing that lasts about thirty seconds, then dissapates.

Arn't hormones funny things?!

I seem to be the complete opposite! I can just have eaten but as soon as Lex latches on i could eat a horse im so hungry!! Dunno why?!

ME! I'm the exactly same - it's a really odd feeling! I thought it was just me!

i do, ive always had this! i used to eat meals while feeding (he wont let me now lol) and id be starving and couldnt wait to scoff it, hed latch on and i couldnt touch it as id feel queasy and my appetite would just go. it would go cold anyway and id scoff it after when id be ravenous again!
i wondered if it was something about an automatic response where the body has to concentrate on supplying milk and tries to temporarily shut diwn other things??
