How long after a mcg is it safe to ttc again? I've been told 1 cycle and 3. It's a very new loss and I'm both determined to try again but scared to have s repeat. Any tips?

Sorry for your loss hun :hugs:

As for ttc again, it is different for every circumstance. Wether or not you had a d&c or m/c naturally, or was an ectopic... how far along you were, where your hcg levels where at the time of the loss etc etc etc I hope it isnt a long process for you :hugs:

I was about 4-5 weeks and it was a nstual loss, no other complications. Hcg was 26 yesterday. Back next week to check again, hoping for 0.

I am no dr but it sounds like you should be fine with 1 cycle as it was an early loss with no medical intervention and very low hcg. Your body should fall back in its natural rythm in no time :)

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Since mine was natural and at 5 weeks, my doc said to wait one cycle so the uterine lining has time to be "normal" again.

I had a natural m/c which lasted from 13th Feb until 29th March. Our wonderful consultant told us that as soon as I got my first period and we feel mentally able to, to get cracking.

Good luck xxx

Thank you for the encouragement! The day has been hard but reading this has helped.

Sorry for your loss hun. I had a D&C so waited one AF (as it takes away most of your lining) and caught successfully that first month (currently 35 weeks from that pregnancy) if it was a natural MC you don't have to wait at all, they only ask you to wait for dating purposes. Good luck. xxx

I saw this link on another thread. It's very interesting...an article from BBC suggesting it's better to try right away.

Hi

Im so sorry to hear about your loss ... it does get easier with time and I agree that trying again does help you deal with it.

I was told to wait untill after my next period, however i saw a lot of people tried again straight away so was just going to NTNP ..... BUT i went for a scan to check for retained products and i still have some old lining left (I had a natural mc) so my specialist has told me to NOT get pregnant this cycle as it can cause another mc, but to have a scan after my next period to check everything has gone and then try again.

Ceejie, doesnt the article say that should should try within 6 months of your mc, not necessarily straight away??

Its a horrible waiting game but id rather be safe than sorry. Good luck, I wish all of you all the best and :dust: xxx

Thanks! I think waiting 2-3 is best yo heal both physically and emotionally. Plus I have to see if I'm back on schedule again!

I have PCOS and so wait a long time to ovulate and dont have normal cycles, so I have to have a scan cd4 or 5 and if everything has gone i need to take clomid cd5-9 and get trying asap!!!!

Yes i think waiting at least one cycle helps both the mind and body to be in a better place ... good luck, I hope you arent waiting long!!

Yes, I just mean not waiting too long. The study compares babies conceived 0-6 months after mc and those conceived 6-12 months after mc.

"Women who conceived within six months were less likely to have another miscarriage, termination or ectopic pregnancy, the figures showed.

Also, among those who went on to give birth, conceiving within six months was associated with reduced risk of Caesarean birth, a premature delivery or a low birthweight baby compared with those women who had conceived between six months and a year"

So, I think it's better to not wait too long, but of course that depends on your personal comfort level and if you feel you are ready.

I have been told several different things. My GP said to wait 6 months, my FS said 2 months, the dr who did my first d&c said 1 cycle, the dr who did my 2nd d&C said just 2 weeks.

Good luck to all.

Hiya

Ah i see, sorry! Yes i agree we get told all these different things and no one is the same so it all depends on our circumstances .... i personally want to try again straight away as I want a baby so much and i loved the few weeks that i was pregnant and am desperate for it to happen again!!

Why cant we speed up time??!! xxx

I think a cycle or two is good. Time to physically and emotionally heal. Just so scared of a repeat. It's been 4 days now and cramping and bleeding is still happening. It's a constant horrible reminder. But I dud live it when I was pregnant

Aw i know exactly how you feel, i bled for almost 6 weeks but then i was further along i suppose, the cramping is good in a way as it means your body is doing what it needs to do.

Soon enough you will be back in the game :hugs: xxx
