Hi every one,

Me and my husband have been trying to conceive for the past year now with no success.
My periods returned in January after 3 years with no period due to being underweight, and they have been fairly regular (every 5-6 weeks) but this month I haven't had one.
I'm not pregnant as I have taken a test, and I'm blaming it on things being stressful at work!

So my question is, when is the right time to book an appointment to see a doctor asking for help? I'm worried about them laughing at me and telling me I'm *too young* (I'm 21 going on 22)
If I book an appointment, what questions will they ask and what help is there I can have?

Thanks ladies x

They won't laugh at you for being young that would be really unprofessional. You should talk to them, they might surprise you.

I got pregnant with my child at 20 after ntnp for two years, it doesn't matter your age if your ready for a baby they should be professional enough to respect that it's your life! Baby dust to you!!!

Thank you, I had a scan a couple of weeks back as had a suspected ovarian cyst, but ovaries and womb all seem health which is a good thing.
It's something me and my husband desperately want, I didn't realise how difficult it would be to conceive!
I may give it another month and then make an appointment.
Does any one know what kind of help is available out there?

I might have read this wrong but if your periods only came back in Jan then you've been trying for 5/6 months?

I think being underweight can prevent ovulation so the few periods you have had could have been anovulatory cycles.

I'd take pre-conception vitamins if I was you and try and bring your body fat up as a low body fat prevents ovulation xx

Thank you for your replies, a bit of an update, yesterday afternoon I went to the toilet, when I wiped there was a very light brown cm left on the tissue with bits of red specks, I wiped again and there were a little bit more, in which I thought my period was on its way so have put a pad on, and have had nothing since, just period like cramps which I have had all week.
Could this possibly be an implantation bleed? I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

No medical professional should ever laugh at you. If they do, run away! General rule is that after 1 year of frequent, unprotected "trying" if you are not pregnant, then is the time to seek help. You should make an appt with your gynecologist first and talk to him/her about seeing a fertility specialist. If that sounds scary, don't worry...no one is saying the "I" word yet! It is just to do some basic testing of you and him to see if there are any complications. It is way better to take care of this now while you are so young. Get your weight up to a healthy BMI, take a pre-natal or just a really good multi, eat right start paying attention to your cycle, and do some charting of you BBT and CM. Good luck!!

Another update, I took a pregnancy test (first response) this morning and it was positive :D I am over the moon, I never thought this day would come!
I'm going to do another tomorrow morning just to be sure, but it came back positive straight away :D
