When should I change to the next teat size?

Hi

I've been looking into this too. My LOis just over 3 weeks and was on dr browns bottles with size 1 teats. He is a very hungry baby. However, in the past week I noticed he started to cry and fuss when feeding, taking an hour of perseverance to get him to finish a bottle. Sometimes it was impossible as he would just fall asleep and refuse. He then would wake up 30 mins later looking for more.

We have just moved to size 2 even though the recommendation for that dr brown teat is 12 weeks. He is dribbling quite a bit of milk out when feeding but that's getting better with each feed. He seems comfortable enough and is getting used to the change.

No harm in trying next size for a day or do and seeing how your LO does. Don't give up on it after 1 feedif he is dribbling or gulping is my advice, allow him to get used to it.

I noticed last night and just now that she wants her milk but seems to be getting really distressed and angry when I give her her bottle and I was wondering whether it may be the teat? Xx

My baby did this and moving to the next size really helped.x

Perhaps. It must be frustrating to want food but no matter how hard you suck it's not coming fast enough. Also I read if your baby sucks really hard it can actually hamper the milk flowing out the teat making it worse.

Give it a go you won't be wasting money as you will need the next level teat soon enough anyway!

My LO started to take less and more often because it was too much like hard work. Much better now, as PP have said, no harm in trying :flower:

My HV told me to change teat size when Lucie was just under 3 weeks as she was getting both frustrated and bored at feed times which lead to her messing around. She is 9 weeks on Thursday and i'm noticing she has started to do the same so i will try the next teat up and see what she is like with it xx
