How do you know when you need to change teats up to the next stage? What signs do you need to look for?

they say to change the teats every 6-8 weeks but we didnt with leeon unless there is a rip or hole or the teat is worn x (no rips when baby has no teeth)

My MW told me that if they start to fall asleep on the bottle then try the next size teats!! we went up to the next size teats and some feeds he fine with them and other feeds it all comes out the side of his mouth. Try them hun youll soon now if brooke will get on with them xx

ahhh sorry just re read the question i miss read it LOL yeh if the milk is dribbling out their mouth the teats are too fast if they seem to be struglling to drink and give up or get stressed they are too slow but they all have different ages on the teats but some babies need faster or slower my friends son is 2 n half Yes he still has a bottle and hes on newborn teats leeon was on 6months+ teats at 3 months

or if she seems frustrated at not getting enough milk, maddi is still only on no 2 teats x

I just went by the recommendation on the packet. Seemed to work for us on the size 1 to 2 change over. However, she still isnt ready for level 3 teats yet, she chokes on it.

xxx

Harry is 7 weeks and HV said that putting him on the next teats may help him stop being sick after winding. Tried the next teats and he seemed fine for 2 days then he projectile vomited with 2 feeds so i decided to go back down to newborn. Don't know if the change in teats had anything to do with projectile vomit but decided to wait another couple of weeks.

I was told that not to use faster teats unless you absolutely have to because a faster flow can contribute to reflux... Here the first stage teats are used until around 3 months.

one sign is if they seem to be sucking really hard but the bottle isnt going down as quickly as it has been, also i found that she was falling asleep half way through as she was working so hard.. bless her lol x

I dont get it, would the baby not have a stronger suck as they got older? It seems that having trouble sucking a slow teat would be regression?

I have absolutley no idea, thats a good point!! She doesnt seem to have a problem sucking, she sucks her dummy so hard sometimes she's like Maggie from the simpsons

Brookes just nodding off halfway through a bottle and take 2/3oz then sleep for an hour maybe 2 tops and then want the rest, so say another 2/3oz. Its like her feeding times have gone backwards.

Im going to try her on a stage 2 teat which on the packet ive got says medium flow for newborns, so we shall see.
