When to stop sterilizing?

Hello ladies

There's probably already been a thread like this, but i was just wondering what the recommended age to stop sterilizing bottles and things was? I asked my HV and she was not helpful at all, i don't even think she knew

Its usually 1 year. Some specialists say its 1 year for bottles used for milk as particular nasties can be lurking; 6 months for everything else (i.e. plates, bowls, sippy cups for water/juice et al).

they say a year. But we are gunna stop this week, as long as they are washed in hot soapy water i dont see the problem. X

I stopped with my LO who was formula fed at 6 months as well; since he was putting everything in his mouth (he is three and a half and STILL into that), but I think it depends on the type of bottles also; if you have Dr Browns or others with difficult to clean valves its probably wise to sterilise them that bit longer; I had NUK so they are easy to clean properly.

We will do it for as long as Daisy has formula milk as it gets rid of the bacteria found in formula, but have heard its 12 months youre 'meant' to do it for x

12 months - I am going to stop on Emma's birthday next week and can't wait!!!

my hv said 6 months i wash in very warm soapy water and then wash them in hot water x

Oh one more thing; whenever you stop sterilising MAKE SURE you dry the bottles thoroughly or leave them in a place where they can air dry thoroughly; because most bacteria are water borne, so proper drying is essential.
