I'm so thirsty and I can't drink water for the life of me.... Anything more than a few sips and I'm either In a violent puke episode or horribly nauseated for the next couple hrs...... It has been 2 months now that I haven't been able to drink water.... I get about 4-6oz in a day.... I'm sooooo sick of Gatorade and sprite/coke..... I'm starting to also worry about getting a kidney infection or uti..... I get bad cramps some days and know its prob due to dehydration ..... I just need water!!! I'm 12 wks.... Hoping this will pass soon!?

Have you tried flavoring the water with mio or something maybe if it doesn't taste like water you won't get sick?

I totally understand. Well I'm just about 21 weeks and I love been able to get bottles down for a week now!

I put lemon slices and lemon juice in mine. Careful with coke, that is a diuretic and takes water from you rather than giving you water. For a long time I thought there was something wrong with my ice from the icemaker and would just drink lukewarm tap water. Now ice water tastes just fine. The best way to tell if your dehydrated is to look at your urine, you want it to be almost clear to light straw color. If it is dark yellow or brown you need more water. Can you drink milk? Or even fruit juice? I'd try something like mio that a pp suggested. Good luck hun. Hope it gets better for you soon. Also another side effect of dehydration is headaches.

Thanks ladies! Ohhh I didn't know Mio was safe!! I'll be on a mission tomorrow.....I was putting lemons in my water for a while but that seems to give me extra heart burn :/ and I'm lactose intolerant so I drink almond milk but even that makes me sick these days:/ juice actually goes down but I feel so thirsty after that I can't help but chug water and then I'm doomed :( my ice machine broke and now I don't have crushed ice!! That was my best friend....

I'm up to 1.5 liters a day. The water being ice cold helps a lot.

Hi!
At 12 weeks i was still unable to drink water. It was one of the things i couldn't touch, few sips and it'd come back up.
I am now 14 weeks and can get through a whole glass, even though my morning sickness hasn't subsided yet, i am totally okay with water (if i have food with it too).

The thing that has helped me is having it really ice cold and with a slice of lemon (skip the lemon if it gives you heartburn tho!), i can keep it down now no problem. Seriously, two weeks ago, i was certain i'd never be able to drink water again!

I drank iced tea, watered-down juice (1/3-1/2 juice, the rest water), perrier, perrier mixed with juice, ginger ale, tea, ..... water is finally OK but I couldn't drink a lot for 1st tri and part of 2nd tri. Cold with ice and a straw helped.

I still can't do water. I live on ice cold ginger ale and popcicles. I read somewhere there is a theory that when you are starving, your body will reject zero calorie items like water because it is useless to your body. *shrug*. I'd say any liquid you can keep down is a good liquid, maybe with the exception of alcohol as it actually does dehydrate you.

Caffeine will dehydrate you as well, so whatever u drink don't drink a lot of caffeine. I always did better with warm liquids like tea or lemon water. Lemon though is a natural diuretic, so be careful with that until ur feeling better.

I'm having this problem right now, too. Drinking a lot of non-caffinated soda and juice instead, as it seems to be the only things that will stay down. :(

15+4 here and Aaaargh still can't stomach it. Only if I wake at night can I drink a little. Anything citrusy gives me heartburn so all I manage is some tea (decaf Yorkshire, peppermint, chamomile). I'm so bored with it and fed up with hot drinks in Summer weather. Surely, this will pass soon?

Try pineapple juice watered down. It is actually not as citrusy as orange juice. I couldn't drink water in first tri either (it gave me heartburn, but funny enough watered down cranberry juice, watered down pineapple juice, or a mixture of equal parts pineapple juice orange juice and water I could hold down without the heartburn!) good luck.

Thanks so much ladies for all the tips and tricks!! I'll def experiment with the drops and watered down juices..... Some reason fruit infused water makes me sick ...... Today I tried some extremely watered down lemonade and I got a whole big glass down with no vomiting! Extremely nauseated though:/ :( I hope this passes soon..... I'm soooooo thirsty for pure water !!!! Ugh
