So as you guys know, i saw the doctor last week who referred me to the midwifery team and requested i had an early scan. she dictated the letter into her dictaphone whilst i was there. However she didnt explain what would happen with the scan, she just said that someone would be in touch and i havent heard anything yet. I am 5w1d today and saw the doctor 4 days ago.

basically my question is as follows: should i be expecting a call this week from someone or will it take longer?? i mean, will i hear from the EPU shortly or will it just be a case of booking in with the midwife as usual at 8 weeks and having the scan then? I am really quite anxious about whats going on in there, i just dont want to bug the doctor unnecessarily.

when you guys have early scans, who do you hear from first? do you see the midwife first or are you referred directly to the EPU?

It depends on where you live to be honest. For me, my GP told the midwife to get me and early scan and where I live the MW calls the hospital while you are there and the hospital would not give me one (she tried 2 departments) because I was not experiencing problems at that point, so I had to wait until 12 week for my NT scan. It may be easier to call your doctors office to see how it works in your area because any answer you get on here may not apply to your GP's/hospital.

Yep, definitely call your Dr (and don't worry about harassing them, that's what they're there for) as it really does seem to vary so much. I hope you get your appointment soon. Fingers crossed. :)

I had an early scan and I got a letter about 6 days after seeing gp from the xray department of local hospital. And went about another 4 days later.
But like the others have said will prob depend where you live. X

Thank you for replying girls! :flower:

I have an appointment booked for friday, that was when i was going to tell her about the pregnancy and i forgot to cancel it when i managed to get in earlier. So instead of cancelling it i will go along anyway, i have some things i want to discuss with her anyway so i can ask about it then.

thanks again :hugs:

I rang my docs coz I hadn't heard anything & they told me that EPU would be in touch direct but they won't call / write until I'm 6 weeks

Hi im_mi, it might be worth phoning the EPU to ask about the process and make sure they have the midwife's referral. I find with the NHS that being pro-active rather than awaiting contact from them gets things done quicker (and makes me feel more in control - as far as is possible!).

Hope you get that early scan soon.
