DH and I are struggling to choose a baby monitor. The only real requirement is that we want a video one. My mother is buying it for us, and she says the angelcare one with the video is too expensive (it was £192 in kiddicare when we went to have a look).
Anyway, looking somewhere around the £100 mark.

One thing I noticed with most of the monitors that have good reviews (e.g. the motorola swivel one and the summer baby zoom) is that the video camera is on a stand. I don't understand how that would work with a moses basket? We don't have any tables or drawers near the moses basket so there's nowhere to 'place' the monitor, ideally we thought there would be a good 'clip on' one somewhere. Has anyone seen one, or know if those stand versions also clip on to a basket?

We're heading back to kiddicare this week, so hoping to decide soon. Any advice much appreciated! Thanks! :)

We did not get one with Video but we have the Angelcare movement one :D

I swear by the angelcare movement monitor and we are still using our one after 2&1/2 yrs. I was looking at the video one and found it cheaper in eBay. X

I have been looking today - not chosen but worth buying online in mothercare 15% off until Tuesday if you spend over £100 online. So you can be one for £115 and only pay £100 :)

I got this one and its great! and cheap https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hush-Comfort-Plus-Digital-Monitor/dp/B0072DIVHC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375561297&sr=8-1&keywords=baby+monitor+hush

*edit*

oops only just saw you wanted a video one! Have you tried amazon tho?

Have a look on eBay, there are ones on there which are brand new, about £120 :-) xxx

Thanks girls - no haven't tried amazon or ebay, my mum isn't really an online sort of person. She wants to physically go into a shop and buy it. She's happy to go to around £100 though, she just said she thought the angelcare one was too expensive. DH is insistent that we have a video monitor though.

Bumping in case anyone has more ideas? Especially about the clipping onto the Moses basket etc?

Hi

We use the Summer Infant Slim and Secure video monitor.

It costs around £100 (try Boots). It's been a really great monitor for us. The camera and the monitor are paired together, so you don't need to be concerned about your signal being picked up by other baby monitors in the area. The picture is lovely and clear and the sound quality is great. You can easily hear baby breathing which is always great for peace of mind.

It doesn't have a clip, but it could be wall mounted or it's possible to thread a cord through slots at the back and tie it to/hang it off something. Maybe you could attach some sort of clip to it?

Hope that's helpful.

Metroland, thank you that's really helpful. I didn't realise about the wall mounts!

We have just ordered the Motorola mbp36 after lots of research! It looks really good and it's £119 online, you could add the £19 to it for your mum to get you? Xxx

Thanks Sams - yeah we had seen that one & thought it looked good. Can it attach to anything, does it mount on a wall etc? Or do you have to stand it up somewhere?

I think it comes with fittings for both, on the advert/reviews on YouTube they have it on the wall fixed but my friend has it on top of the wardrobe looking down into baby's cot which I think we will be doing! Xx
