Mailie has decided she no longer wants to breastfeed unless she really has to or mummy plonks her on when she's too tired to notice :haha: so she's mainly having formula which after feeling gutted about because I wanted to breastfeed longer we're ok with but she's on SMA gold and she's sick pretty much after every feed which isn't so good, we tried SMA white for one tin and it was awful, really greasy and didn't look amazing so we switched back, to be honest she's always been a bad sleeper and SMA gold keeps her the same as she's always been but the sickyness we're not loving (Mailie does because she's addicted to licking baby wipes :dohh:) We have no other problems other than the poo, boy does that stink soooooooooooooo bad but thats normal isn't it?

Anyway we're seriously considering changing formula, I know Aptamil is seen as the best and that's what my son was on (he had bowel problems, colic, you name it) so Aptamil was the only one that eased the problems off a bit but it is so expensive compared to the others which in all honesty does put me off.

We'll be starting baby led weaning within the next 2 weeks, slowly so milk will still be her primary food, which formula would everyone recommend?

Thanks. If everyone says Aptamil then we'll get that lol! Then again is the been sick normal?

my 2 had aptamil. i asked th paediatrician which milk was best she said aptamil so went with that but cow and gate a close 2nd which is a £1 cheaper. Does ur LO just posset or is it a full on vomit?

Most of the time its full on vomit unfortunately although she does keep it down on a night

mite b worth goin 2 the docs then if she is sick a lot, she mite hav reflux. i took ellie and they gave me some gaviscon 2 put in her bottles 2 help her keep it down, it was great she was hardly sick after that

wen i stopped fully bf'ing midwife told me to use aptimal as it was best etc etc..

luisa became extremly constipated on it.. switched to cow and gate and never looked back.. she is now on c&g follow on.

every baby is different :)

Holly has Aptamil stage 3.... HV tld me it was most breastmilk like... if that makes sense.

I b/f in the begining but couldnt go on with it so We have tried all 3 lol started off on Sma gold jenna got really bad wind and was sicky and constipated then wanted to feed every hour so tried sma white but she just screamed and screamed!! then we tried cow and gate and got the screaming again in the end we stuck with sma gold until i spoke to HV We now have been using Aptamil for 2 weeks and have had no problems a much more contented baby!!! xx

Imi is on Aptimal after terrible tummy problems on SMA. She seems to be settling much easier now :)

I really think it does depend entirely on the baby, Myles had terrible watery explosive poos on aptamil but has been great on sma gold :)

I'm not sure how relevant this is so apologies if it's not, but my friend's baby is a very sicky baby and would throw up loads after every feed. She tried him on a particular kind of formula designed for sicky babies (sorry, I have no idea what kind) and he was a lot better on it. When she mentioned it to the doctor, the doctor said he could prescribe the formula for him... so free formula! Might be worth asking.

Any one using growing up milks are they a gimick or is there benifts to using them as they are quite expensive

Connor on sma lactose free so im not really much help

Roman is on Aptimal stage 2. Only just gone onto that. He was on stage 1 before. I started him on cow and gate but he was so unsettled with it and we had alot of problems with colic and wind. So the HV and Dr told me to put him on aptimal and he's been a different baby since. I dont mind paying the extra. I would give my last penny for my son to be satisfied and comfortable.

Growing up milks are a con i think. Once baby is a year old they can get full fat cows milk which has what they need in it. They should be getting about a pint a day i think.
