Which hospital room is more important to you?

If you have to pick one to be better would you rather have a nice labor and delivery room or a nice recovery room?

Recovery room. You'll probably be there longer.

Recovery room. Here you're required to stay for 3 days.

Recovery room because when the pain gets bad you really don't care what the delivery room looks like. It would be really nice if we didn't have to change rooms though.

Wow, 3 days? Is that typical at every hospital?

Both of my babies have been born at the same hospital where we have the same room for L&D and recovery. I stayed just under 48 hours (including labour) with my first and 16 hours (including labour) with my second.

If I had to vote though, I'd say recovery room. I could have given birth in the middle of the hallway for all I cared, but I wanted to comfort & privacy afterward. As much as you can get at a hospital anyway.

I was in a birthing pool room for both with my son. Was there in total for about 9 hrs, so not really fussed either way as thinking this time will hopefully be quicker :) Though hopefully not too quick!

Recovery! I was so happy I was put in a room and not on a ward even though i was only ther 1 nite! I was in a tiny back cupboard to deliver as they were so busy and I went into labour so quick they couldn't get me a room! x

I ll be on midwife led suite this time so will stay in same room birth and afterwards. Will be alone and will leave 6 hours after birth all being well so dont really mind.

For me, recovery room but it depends what the labor room has that you may want- like a tub? We actually switched hospitals this time for the nice, new recovery rooms.

Recovery for me! I was on a ward with Evie and there was a woman on it that had had an epidural, and they wasn't sure if it had paralysed her :( the nurses had to pick her baby up to pass him to her and everything! I felt so sorry for her!

as long as all 3 are clean and minimal i couldnt care less. my oh was on about this the other day. in labour i wont be paying attention, or will i in delivery, and in recovery i will be too busy looking at my baby.

For me the more plain and cleaner the better.

Well my labour n delivery room was quite nice had its own bathroom in so once id had the baby i had a bath (within an hour tho!) BUT they didnt clean up my bed after so that i cud lay back down which was awful so i sat on the chair n OH had to stand, they then said 3 hours after delivery that i had to make my won way to another hosp now as they need my bed!! i was appalled at that as blood was still pouring out of me n id had stitches and had to walk to the car to another hosp, but the other hosp was a mw led one which was lovely but ur not allowed visitors except your OH lol, so id defo have the nicer recovery room as you can relax while baby is sleepin :)

My hospital you have a private room that you keep for labor, delivery, and recovery. I share a bathroom with one other woman whose room is on the opposite side of the bathroom.

However... The morning after delivery with Megan they asked me if I would mind moving rooms as they had so many women giving birth they had run out of room. So we said ok. We were being nice. Which I really regret. They talked it up saying I would have my own bathroom. But we found out after we moved that the room was way smaller which wasnt ideal considering dh was staying overnight and megan's bassinet took up a lot of room. Also no shower or sitz bath. We decided this time we wouldn't let them move us. So after that experience I would say better room for recovery.

I liked my delivery room, it had a nice ensuite and a lovely floor to ceiling view!

The ward wasnt so nice, long trip to bathroom (not fun when you ve had a C Section and it was v noisy and the ladies kids opposite me kept pulling he curtain across! :growlmad:

I'll have the same for both, a private room, but if I had to choose, I'd choose recovery over L&D!

Well, for me it'll be the delivery room (c-section, safety and sanitary during delivery #1), but they are both equally important imo.
