Hey,

I have a beautiful 2 month old boy. I worry constantly about SIDS with him. I bought an angelcare movement monitor for him before he was born but it does not work with his bassinet.

I am going to get a movement monitor that attaches to his diaper and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these.

It seems that the top two are Respisense BUZZ and the Snuza Halo. I am really having trouble deciding which one is better. The halo is a little cheaper and I can get 2 day shipping for free through amazon. The Respisense BUZZ indicates that it can usually tell the difference between the babys breathing and the movement of a car (for instance) while the halo states it is not meant for use where other movements are occuring.

Does anyone have experience with these two monitors (or any other?) Are they safe? Do they work? etc

Thanks so much!

We bought the respisense when she was born, and it was awful it kept vibrating against her even though she was breathing! so we had spent ages getting her to sleep, only for her to wake up with that bloody thing! saying that my friend had one for her LO and it worked fantastically, maybe we just had a duff one?

we bought the angel care but my SIL did have the Respisense buzz and i dont think shed reccomend it it was always giving false alarms.

the angelcare should work inn a moses basket/bassinet - mine does. What model do you have? xx

The angelcare woks perfectly in our moses basket - have you checked the settings?

We use our movement sensor mat in the moses basket n it works perfectly. We have the tommee tippee one.

Iv got the angel care and that works fine with her moses basket, how dosent it work with his?

I have an arms reach co-sleeper bassinet and the mattress actually has a hard board at the bottom of it- so i cant really place a sensor pad under it- it wouldnt go through the hard part of the mattress. Also, he and I often fall asleep in my bed whil nursing and my mom naps him in swings when she watches him, so i like the idea of something that cango anywhere.

I know that most likely nothing will happen to him but I still get so nervous.... when hes sleeping and im not in the room, I sit upstairs staring at my video monitor to make sure he moves ever 10 minutes or so...if he doesnt move I go downstairs to make sure hes breathing. I know its ridiculous...but I cant help it.

Has anyone ever used the halo with any success?

Loved my Respisense Ditto (better than the Buzz as you can buy replacement batteries rather than having to send it off). I had a crap one at first (was always going off) but the company replaced it. I'd probably only recommend it if you are sleeping in the same room/nearby though because then you can reach over and check it easily. I did find it got dislodged (worked best with waistbands of pants rather than my cloth nappies), but a bit of playing around when they are awake should sort you out. It was great for us as she was in a hammock then co-sleeping.
