Just wondering if anyone has looked into the different options for prenatal vitamins, and which one seems the most beneficial to you?

I've been on Vol-Nate since January because its free, but am considering switching if there is something better out there as we start TTC. Thoughts please?

Hi there :) I have been on Solgar Prenatal because I have read great reviews and it is also vegan (which is important for me). My mother in law is a pharmacist and she suggested the same brand to me, without knowing I was already taking it, so I guess it must be good.
Good luck with TTC!

I'm just taking the store brand from Safeway. I want to get some gummy prenatals soon though. I just can't take the smell and taste of these.

I take New Chapter perfect prenatal because it's natural, organic and has folate instead of folic acid.

I take Daily One from Shoppers Drug Mart and it has 400 mcg's (micro grams) of folic acid.

Glad you asked the question lovetocruise. We'll be NTNP starting late Oct and I'm wondering if now is too early to start taking prenatals. I'll be checking on those mentioned. Thanks!

I think it's actually good to start taking them early, that way if one brand makes you sick, you can switch and you won't be wondering if it's morning sickness or the vitamins. Either way, definitely start your folic acid now so it can build up in your system. My doc told me to take ~1mg folic acid for 3-6 months prior to ttc.

I've been taking regular vitamins since the iron in prenatals makes me sick. My previous doc said that was fine for the entire pregnancy, but my current doc thought prenatals were better because they have less vitamin A, or a different kind, or something. She said Target brand worked for her, but I haven't tried them yet. So confusing when doctors don't agree!

My family doctor said the folic acid can be built up in your system for up to a year. I started taking them in January and we'll ttc starting November. So I would say to definitely start taking them asap.

I think I've been dragging my feet about starting to take them b/c I've heard they make you sick. But I've also heard taking them at night helps with that. Well, they are going on my shopping list for sure. Taking the prenatals will make it more real! Eek! I'm a weird-o, I know.

I take rainbow light women's one. I have been really bad about talking it but now that we are 1 year out, I am going to make it a priority. Did really good this week actually, only missed one pill :)

I just take the whole foods brand folic acid 800mcg.

but sometimes I just take a regular womens "One a day" multivitamin/multimineral. (has 400mcg folic acid in it)

just whatever I feel like taking that day

(I'm currently NTNP)

I heard fish oil is also good to take (brain development!)

and a lot of women say that they also take probiotics. It helps with digestion to prevent hemmeroids and heart burn I guess?

Yeah I'm taking kimchi for my probiotics. Super yummy!
