Which spelling?

Personally I would spell it Bronwyn - purely because my understanding is that the name means "white breast" in Welsh, and white in Welsh is spelled Gwyn. I'm sure Bronwen is also acceptable and is probably just a variation, but if I was asked to spell it I would naturally put a y in it.

Same here, i'd choose Bronwyn because that is how i would spell it if asked to and i know how annoying it can be when you have a name spelled a bit differently to the norm! I do like both tho xx

This is a name that OH have talked about too! We personally prefer Bronwen because it sounds a little softer.

The name does mean 'white breast' but the wyn and wen ending are just the masculine and feminine variations of the word white in Welsh (gwyn). Maybe this explains why I say Bronwen sounds softer, as it is the 'feminine version'!

Either way a lovely name!

True - I guess it depends on how you want the name pronounced - bronWEN or bronWIN?
