Who brings the presents Santa? Mum/dad? Or both?

in our house Santa brings gifts and we buy gifts as well :)

santa brings the main present - the one they asks him for.
DH and I take credit for the other presents
and then they get presents from relatives too

We haven't really bought him any presents yet, but he didn't understand about gifts until this past birthday. Gifts from family have always been from them, but I suppose we might do one gift from us and one from Santa this year.

My parents never bought us presents for occasions...period...Which translates into... there was no such thing as Santa for us. We grew up dirt poor, and I mean poor... (I was born in a war torn country, and lived the first few years of my life in a refugee camp.). No time, nor money for that stuff. Was just concerned about surviving to see another day.

Don't get me wrong, my parents made sure we were fed, warm, and there was a roof over head.... But if I thought I was 'unfortunate,' my parents childhood was even more of a struggle...

But we had traditions that didnt involved gifts... Midnight mass and a big family meal...

This is LO's first Christmas, so I haven't thought about it yet!

My parents did a mix until my younger sister stopped believing in Santa, I think.

I guess I'm the odd one out though as we won't be doing any from Santa, ever. He might get a picture with Santa at the mall or something, for MY benefit, but my DH didn't grow up doing anything Santa and wants to do the same with our children. At first I didn't agree but now I'm fine with it. It can be fun but I don't think they'll really be missing out to not believe in Santa.

This year I'm not sure he'll even get anything from us, since at 7 months old he's not really going to get it. If anything it would be for the photo op, so again, my benefit.

Growing up, my mom would buy and wrap presents and put them under the tree before Christmas...I loved watching the gifts accumulate over the last few weeks before the holiday. Then, on Christmas morning, "Santa" would just leave the gifts out and displayed – no wrapping. My mom's motto was always "Santa doesn't wrap!" Of course, that made it much easier to sneak out to the living room in the middle of the night to see what I got from Santa! :winkwink:

I think I'll do something similar with my kids. I definitely want some credit when it comes to giving gifts!

We had stockings from santa, 1 special present from Jesus, and the rest from parents.

Originally it was all from santa until my lil bro asked one day why mum and dad didnt love him enough to buy him anything - fail.

We are just going to do stocking from santa everything else from us.

I loved sneaking down at 3 AM to see what Santa left (unwrapped)! I would just look for a minute and go back to bed happy and excited. Its funny cause my siblings always snuck down to look, too, but the 3 of us never ran into each other. :haha:

They where always from mum and dad when I was a kid. Same with grandparents and other relations. Same goes here with my kids.

When we were little all of our presents were from Santa. With our LO, presents off family will be off family and half the gifts we buy will be from Santa, half off me and OH. Getting quite excited now :D

Santa just fills your stocking here everything else has a label telling you who it's from. Santa also uses different wrapping paper to mummy and daddy

We r going to do santa brings everything mammy and daddy pay him for the pressies but Santa buys each child one present each normally unwrapped.

All presents will be from Santa. But as Alex gets older one gift will be under the tree from mum and dad. This is what my mum and dad did when I was younger.

All my presents were from Santa if they were off my Mum and from family they were labelled off who they were from under the tree. We are gonna do one main present off Mum and Dad under the tree. Rest from Santa infront of the fire. Then family will give her presents when we see them on Christmas Day/Boxing Day x

During the Christmas period my parents would wrap their gifts to us, apart from the main one, and put them under the tree. Then, on Christmas Eve Father Christmas fills a sack of separate unwrapped presents and one thing we asked for. On Christmas morning, after opening our sack, we'd go downstairs and our main gift from our parents would be wrapped and waiting on a chair for us. The sacks and main present were all we were allowed to open before breakfast - everything else happened afterwards :)

We'll be doing something similar with LO except obviously she won't be asking for anything as she can't speak - so her sack will just have things I like for her! Her other gifts will be wrapped during the Christmas period and waiting under the tree for her.

In our house everything is labeled from Mum & Dad and family etc but Santa delivers them all :) x

for now i do all santa if i incoperated me into it i think it would spoil the magic a bit but wheb hes older i will do some from me.
i have however told him (after he spied some presents) that mammies help santa out as hes very busy and send him some presents to wrap up

Everything we buy is from Santa, who doesn't have time to wrap. The elves make them in their workshop.

Gifts from family and friends are left under the tree or handed over personally and the kids know who they are from so they can thank them.

All apart from main present are from Father Christmas. I wrap them in different paper. It's totally pointless now as he's too little to notice but I guess he will one day
I only do it that way because when I was little they were all from Father Christmas, which we didn't give a second thought about, but one year my Mum and Dad bought my sisters and I a joint gift from themselves, which was only a big colourful folder each and a ream of paper to share, but I was so touched they'd thought to buy us something that it was my favourite gift that year. I'm not arsed about credit - I'm Santa down to the shiny black boots, he just doesn't know it yet :winkwink:
