I've heard taking prenatal vitamins or just a multivitamin in general when you are TTC is good. Who all is taking them and what kind?

3 months before we started TTC, I was on a pre-natal vitamin. It was blackmores pre-conception.

Then when we found out our fertility problems I stopped taking them because I had heard it was bad to take them for prolonged periods of time. I was going to make a thread about this actually, so if anyone can confirm this for me or tell me if its just a myth then that would be great!

I'm not on anything right now but still TTC. If DH's motility has gone up to a conceivable rate then I will go back on them.

Apparently you're supposed to have been on them (ideally) 3 months before conceiving and then switch to a pregnancy one when you are pregnant.

Ive not heard anything about being bad taking them for a long time.

I was taking pregnacare but ive still yet to replace them after i ran out (bad me!)

I'm a cheapy and I just take two Flinstone vitamins. Same as prenatal vitamins and some docs even reccommend women take them instead of prenatal vitamins.

I take FertilAid which has all kinds of natural stuff, including Folic Acid and when (keyword when) I get pg, I will switch over to my rainbow light pre-natal vitamins that I bought already. Anxious much? I think so!

I have been taking OneSource prenatal vitamins...they are also good for pregnant and lactating women. I haven't heard anything bad about being on them for prolonged periods of time, but who knows....??

Well considering its just vitamins and minerals it didn't make make sense to me that it was bad for you to be on them for a long time, I can't even remember where I heard it from now!

i take pregnacare, a friend of mine got became pregnant while taking em so i'm hoping it'll work for me!!

I keep forgetting the brand name of the pills I'm taking. I take one pre-natal vitamin a day plus two extra 1mg Folic Acid pills.

I take folic acid and vitamin B6. My husband also takes B6 as well as Zinc.

I am taking just folic acid, but I must admit Im not very good at remembering to take it! This thread has reminded me so off to take it now..................

I'm taking folic acid as the Government advises it pre-conception and in the first 12 weeksd of pregnancy. But otherwise, nowt else, just eating healthily.

I can't remember the name of my prenatal vitamin...think I bought it at Costco...but mine says to take it preconception, while pregnant, and while BFing...don't think it can be bad. The one thing that I know can be bad is too much iron, but that's anytime. Some other vitamins and minerals can be bad is taken too much, but usually a mulitvitamin (prenatal or otherwise) won't give you too much of them, even with your eating them as well.

Hope that helps (it's a little scatterbrained, sorta like me today!)
