Who will you have with you at the labour?

I am thinking that I don't want anyone there this time. I will call FOB after babe and I are settled and he can come visit then, along with his family as long as I am feeling up to it. My mom lives too far away, it would be an 18 hour drive for her to get here. And my BF lives just as far, plus, I've done this enough that I think I can handle it.

A friend and possibly BIL. Not sure on BIL atm. In some ways I think it could be a good thing for my daughter to have a close relationship with her uncle seeing as her father doesn't give a shit. And He has said he wants to be there. But Im still deciding... Better hurry up I spose, 35 weeks pregnant already!

Yikes! Think you do need to make a choice soon!! I'm still trying to find a birth doula (I'll find the money somehow) but a friend has since asked if he can be there - I don't want to hurt his feelings but he's a bit too manic for me, at a time when I'll want cool calm and collected I think he'll be the rabid monkey on speed!! He's just a tiny bit excitable and would be running round the bed giving a running commentry on events and driving the staff nuts - love him dearly but maybe not! I'll bear it in mind though.

Perdita- yeah Im a bit worried about BIL seeing me at my worst. lol.. Im thinking I will send him out at the pushing stage, as it doesnt take long with me. The longest I have pushed for is 5 minutes. But then again by then I really probably wont care whos watching.. Its a magical moment and if he wants to be there cause his stupid brother isnt, well I am probably going to allow it. At least she will have someone from his family that will look out for her.. men hey?

hmm I am not sure who to have. One friend has offered, but she is very eccentric and loud and intense and I don't think I could handle that intensity in the ward. I have my twin sister who would be perfect, but then she would also be perfect to look after the kids when I am in labour. I can't imagine FOB being my birth partner. It is possible he will speak to me by then, but I think he may just not be able to cope with such a thing.
I have some other friends I can ask, but its sort of such a big deal, it's hard to know who would be best and would they actually want to? oh i suppose I'll work it out!!
The last two times I had FOB with me. but this child has a diff. FOB.

suprisebaby why dont you ask the eccentric friend to watch kids (if shes hyper too they could have lots of fun playing) and your sister to be with you??

I have no Mum.... I think I'm gonna have to go it alone... do you have to have a birth partner, can you not just get on with it without anyone?

I had my OH and a MW with me, but I kept telling them both to leave me alone, so for some of my labour I was totally alone in the room, with a MW popping her head in every so often. They really don't mind at all, they've seen all sorts of different labours.

My mum will probablly be with me shes great at keeping me calm and shes done it herself four times, if anyone could help me through it its her! My friend will probably try and weasle in aswell haha hes really excited even plans on getting a cot in his room so he can take the baby overnight if i want a break and hes coming to the scans! We've been best friends since we were 2 haha hes been godfather since 7 weeks lol plenty of time anyways!!
