Why do I need to take a urine sample to my 1st fertility specialist appointment?

Why is this?
Surely they aren't checking if you are pregnant?!?
Can any one shed some light for me?

They will want to do a chlamydia (sp?) test - some take a vaginal swab, other do a urine test - that may be the reason

I did think it a bit strange as they have insisted that I have loads of tests before even being sent for a referral. Therefore I have already had smear, swabs, chalmidia, bloods etc. And even some of these needed to be repeated so that they were within a month of the referral date - because we women love having even more tests done lol
