Does anyone know what could cause my bbt to jump around so much? Take temp same time every morn, noted if taken early or late due to waking before or after alarm, or if sick or anything. Dont drink alcohol much, but my temp went down not up if i did drink. I use Ovuview to chart and it seems i am ovulating. I want to know why it could be varying so much, and some of my low temps (mid 35 area), seem to be really low compared to what sites say it should be. Some sites have said that thyroid problems can cause this, i havent been diagnosed with anything like this, should I see a doctor?

Hi Mrsclt
I've been questioning the flucuations in my bbt charting too after getting some low temps (around 36 degree celcius). I like most people looked to google for answers and found some sites saying that only a temp of 37 is normal, while others say anything between 35.5 and 37.2 is normal. I am inclined to think everyone is different so I decided to believe that 35.5 to 37.2 is normal.

While I don't have any solid answer for your temps flucuating all the time, it appears to me that your temps are in the normal range. Mine flucuate between 36.20 and 36.34 pre-ovulation and 36.37 to 36.47 post-ovulation and always go up and down.

I know that metabolism affects body temperature, the slower it is the lower the temps. I myself am overweight so my temps are lower than the supposed 'golden' 37 degrees because of my slow metabolism. After the next few months of exercising regularly I expect my averages to rise.

Do you get much physical activity?

I usually exercise 3 or 4 times a week with half hour to an hour of cardio. Sometimes I slack off abit if I'm too tired or get sick though. I too have read that around 37 degrees is what it should be around which is why I was curious to see if it could indicate another health problem, but I didn't wanna spend $60 to see a doc till I read what other people have experienced. Its probably just me reading too much internet stuff and worrying myself for no reason.
