I mentioned to my ob that I was worried about placenta accreta with my placenta being anterior and having 2 previous c sections, plus a DNC and I have had my appendex removed (I have 3 scars for that along my abdomen)
I have read on line that if a women has had previous c sections (or any type of scar tissue on her uterus or abdomen) and her placenta is anterior that she is at a greater risk for placenta accreta, where the placenta grows into and through the scar tissue.
I am concerned about this, as there is a chance for massive blood loss, among other complacations but my Dr was all like "whatever, dont worry about" attitude. I even asked where my placenta was positioned (high or low) and she totally ignored my question!
I am very upset and want a better answer and some reassurance.
Should I be concerned? The odds are not in my favor and I dont like knowing that my Dr dosent care :(

I don't have any personal experience , and I see u are at 25 wks, but if u don't feel that dr is listening to u, then I would consider switching. Did u ask her why she wasn't concerned? I do realize that even with all the factors doesn't mean you have it, but Drs shouldn't just blow over it if there are questions. I wish I had words of wisdom for you, but I definitely wish you and lo the best. Keep us updated!!!

Thanks
I really didnt push too much for answers and everything at my last appointment. I had all my other kids with me and im still rather early. Im going to ask more questions at my next appointment. It will be with a different Dr (there are like 10) So the next Dr I see might make me feel better. Im going to call on Monday and make sure it is with my regular Dr. They make you see everyone so when you go into labor you have meet the Dr that is on call, in case yours is not.

First, I love that you get to meet all the doctors that might potentially deliver your baby! That's such a good idea!

I don't have any experience in this, but if I felt my concerns weren't being treated properly I'd switch doctors. Luckily my doctor is very understanding, and hopefully one of the other ones are too. Otherwise, next time you see your usual doctor and he/she ignores your questions again and seek out for a new one. Any concern, big or small, deserve a look into. It's pregnancy, anything can happen.

Good luck!

Personally I have just given birth and had a massive blood loss due to uterine atony !

I have read all sorts now as they was worried when I bled that it was accreta but it wasn't but what I would say is

Your defiantly at a small risk off it ! I would defiantly follow it up Hun becoz they can do scans too check for it ! And if it is that then they can put procedures in place Makesure blood is x matched etc ....
Good luck ! Am sure u will be fine xxxx

Your risk for developing placenta accretia is between 0.3% and 2.4% at the maximum, and you're right, the position of the placenta (high or low) would help to better guess your odds. If nobody told you that you're placenta was low-lying, then your odds are pretty good and in that case, you shouldn't worry!

Your odds are the absolute highest with multiple prior c-sections AND placenta previa, but it doesn't sound like you have placenta previa. Try not to stress!

Oh, and if you weren't diagnosed with placenta accretia at your 20-week scan, that's also really good. If you're getting another scan later on, you could always ask them to check the placenta more thoroughly just for reassurance.

I know two ladies who have had placenta accreta and with both, it was caught at their 20 week ultrasounds. I would think it you had any sign of it, they would have seen it then. But if you are really worried, then I'd seek a second opinion.

But to help put your mind at ease, I know a lady who has 8 kids all born by c-section and she's never had placenta accreta. (And two of her kids are twins to boot!)
