Will I get clomid or straight to IUI on FU appointment?

I have practically all my test results back and have my FU appointment with FS next week. Not really sure what to expect though. Thing about clomid....not sure if I need it or not! I have about a 40 day cycle and I had cd21 bloods done on cd21 and cd28. First result it was 3.5 progesterone which was way too low and the second time it was 95 which was excellent!! So if I am ovulating...albeit it late, not sure if I need the clomid...and not even sure if dr's will look at that...might just ignore it and still give me clomid....

Can they just offer me IUI/IVF instead or will they go down the clomid for 6 months regardless then IUI waiting list? And what is the waiting time? I've heard it can be 24months since you have been trying or 3 years...we're at 2 and a half years....

I am surprised that there is absolutely no one out there that can help me. I'll just have to wait and see then.

Hiya hon. You don;t say how long you've been TTCing. From what I gather, in the UK, you will only get IVF / IUI if you or your partner have a diagnosed fertility problem (eg. low sperm count, not ovulating) or you've been trying for 3 years. My gyno told me there's 4 stages: 1) checking you're ovulating and hubby's sperm count is ok, 2) Check for infections etc 3) check if your tubes are blocked then 4) start looking at assisted conception. It doesn't sound like you've had stage 2 and 3 yet? x

I've had cd21 tests done 3 times...as above, on the actual cd21 it suggests I'm not ovulating but if done later then I am...will they still treat me or not? I'm hoping to just jump straigt to IUI then IVF.

My OH has had 2 SA test....his motility was 3% (rapid progression) both times but everything else was fine...not sure what that means. I've had blood tests to check for hep b,c, hiv and rubella which was all fine. Not sure if the OH needs these blood tests too. I've had 2 TVS and one HSG done. Apparently HSG all clear but I have PCO...lots of cysts apparently...but then lots of women conceive with cysts...so not sure what that means. My FSH was also slightly high which again suggests PCO.

I hope I'm at stage 4 as I've had about 100 tests done!!! I had to have repeated cd3 blood tests cos sometimes they said they didnt do oestrogen and then they did it on cd6 which was too late....I have 40 day cycles which is why the nurse agreed to have it done abit later but then I had to wait another 40 odd days for my next friggin cycle for the next blood test...then they wanted cd21 in the same cycle so I had to do it all over again...bit of a joke really...they should have told me all this right from the begining.

And we have been TTC for 2 and half years...3 years in June...I have a mind to tell them 3 years from now actually especially since how slow things are here in uk!!

Hi Trying for Ever
Your situation is very similar to mine and I think we have spoken before but heres a bit of un update:

I ovulate every month but was still put on clomid. One good thing that might help if you are given clomid most people say that it brings there cycle shorter. I have just finished round 6 no luck. I have got to have a blood test again and DH has to have a sperm test again. We have an appointment on the 23rd Jan to be told if we will get IUI and then IVF depending on the results we might just have IVF.

hiya tory, yeah we've spoken before...i think we might have same consultant....i wanted to ask you actually did you hav your hsg done at queens? i had one done in the past but not here and i had said i will try and bring the results...but now the last hospital i went to say she migt not be able to send it. So i rang queens and left them a message that i may need a hsg done here. Are they quite quick at gettin bak to you? If I dont get my hsg done early next week.......Otherwise i have to cancel my first FU appointment with dr sathanadan next fri :(

Hi, my DH's SA showed 10% rapid progression, the WHO recommends >25% so I am assuming this is our problem but we have our first FS appt on 19th so going to ask then. I have had bloods done which shows ovulation so am thinking next step will be checking of tubes. We have been trying for 18 months and I am hoping by 2.5 years things will have progressed rapidly so I can understand your frustration.
xxx

If you are ovulating late then this is not a fertility problem. When I had CD21 blood tests done I had to have them at CD21, CD28, CD32 or every seven days unless I came on before it. That is because some people do not ovulate dead on CD21, but if your number was 95 then that means you ovulate convincingly.

Clomid regulates your cycle in that it can more or less dictate when you ovulate. There is no point in moving onto IUI or anything else until they have tried that. I am pretty sure you will be put on Clomid for anything up to six months before anything more invasive. That would take you up to the three year mark when you are eligible for IVF or IUI anyway.

Hiya Tory, what day did you have your hsg? I think they normally only do them on one specific day and I really hope I get a date next week...no one has gotten back to me yet :(
