My placenta is dying quickly and if baby can get to 500g drs will deliever her but thats only if placenta doesnt die before. But vaginal birth is out of t question as she will be too small so which csec will i have? Whats t difference?

Emergency cesarean is one that isn't planned, and is often the case if something happens during labour, such as heart rate decreases or a non progressive labour (mine was the latter). You're not booked in and you're taken straight through to theatre.

an elective section is one that is planned for a particular reason, such as health implications or at the request of a pregnant woman. The pregnant woman will be given a date for this and admitted into hospital at this time.

Yours will be an elective because you have a health implication. As vaginal birth is out of the question they know that you need a section, so you'll be booked in or monitored and the section will be planned.

Thankyou. This may sound strange but is recovery t same for both? Xxx

As far as I'm aware yes, as essentially they're the same operation. The only thing could be that an emergency could take longer for recovery if they have to rush because there is risk to baby and mum, if that makes sense? E.g. There could be more blood loss through an emergency procedure if the surgeon has to rush.

Xx

Also, I guess this could depend on the person too and if there is infection etc.

But if all goes well then yes the same! Xx

Thats great news as i am terrified of the thought of a needle in my back xx

You'll be fine, I found that it didn't hurt, it was just a bit strange. Just keep thinking you're getting steps closer to meeting your gorgeous baby, it's a great experience with an amazing outcome xx

Its so exciting. I cant wait to see if she looks like dd x

Recovery times will change depending on what anesthetic is used, and potentially what type of incision as well. I had an emergency csection under general anesthesia with a vvertical incision- you are out of it/unable to move around longer than an epidural. Nurse said vertical incisions take a little.longer.to heal (this was.my.1st though, its not.bad at all ive found).

Emcs are last.minute very fast paced 'baby has.to.get out NOW- for his & moms safety'. Elective is.if.there.is an.idea.there maybe complications.with a vag delivery or.mother requests and a date and time.is planned.out

sorry for.weird.typos- on phone!! but also.congrats on hqving.your little one soon! You will.dp.wonderfully!!

so sorry you are in this situation hun.

But as pp said yours will be planned hun. It should be a good experience.

I have been told you heal better form an elective than an emergency as there is not any rushing with a planned and therefore more care can be taken and you wont be as bruised. But also like another pp said it depends on the type on incision, stitched, and anesthetic used xx

Im so pleased to be able to meet her soon (hopefully it all works out and shes ok) but i do wish you can stay in as long as possible xx

How far along are you? I will say my little guy came quite early (28+4) and is doing well- and seeing other parents coming into the NICU with older babies (30+) they do amazingly well!! Im sorry you are going through this sitiation- and I hope she can stay in as long as possible!!!

Im 22 + 6. Im having a growth scan wednesday so im praying shes got bigger xxx

Will be praying for you and your little girl :hugs: Are they doing steroid injections for her lungs at this point or are they just keeping a close eye on things?

It was decided last tuesday that i will be scanned every week. This wednesday im having a growth scan so its a kind of depends what going on week to week as to next move. If shes got bigger ill mention about steriod shots. But he said he wont deliever her unless shes 500g so he may not till shes closer to t target weight x

Oh you poor lady, having at this stress can't be helping. I hope your little princess is a strong fighter and your placenta lasts a while longer. I have never heard of a placenta dying before so sorry for not fully understanding your situation feel a bit stupid as this is baby 6 on the way. Do you have warning signs that things aren't going as they should be or is it just picked up on a scan? I think I would be a complete wreck if I was in your situation. It must be very difficult time for you. Hope your growth scan shows improvement. xx

Thankyou and dont feel stupid. We knew no these things till we are in t situtation ourselves. I had no real signs. It happened with dd and it was only picked up at 32 weeks as i demanded to be scanned as she was measuring alot smaller on fundal height. But as it happened with dd i was consultant led this time and i expressed my concerns and at my 20 week scan it was checked and then we noticed it already had calification (signs of placenta dying) so i was referred to nnih which os a fetal med unit. My placenta dying has now caused iugr which is a sucker as theres nothing that can be done to change t damage caused. Early deliever is usually expected but some woman go on full term. So babies have problems some not. Its an awful situation to be in but aslong as you get your baby at t end it doesnt really matter whats going on does it. Just praying shes hangs in till shes gets to 500g x

I can only praise you for your apparent strength. I was feeling a bit rubbish earlier, worrying as I will have 6th section is May. But remembered reading your post and soon thought I was being ridiculous stress over something that is still many weeks away. I think most people take it for granted that when they fall pregnant everything will be fine, it is people like you that make life so much more real by making others like me aware that not everything is as straight forward as we would like to think. I have previously been very relaxed when pregnant, but at 35 with 5 previous sections behind me I am finding the emotional side of pregnancy very difficult to cope with this time round. One minute, I am so happy and excited, the noext questioning what I was thinking wanting a sixth. I feel awful even thinking or writing that comment but I have no one to talk to. My partner wouldn't understand. My family ain't interested. I hope you have support at this difficult time. I will say a little prayer for you and your baby, I truely hope she hangs on for a good while longer for you. 500g seems so little but a milestone in itself. Big hugs being sent your way.

Take care xx

I get what yiu mean about doubting yourself as i was told i could have placenta problems again. My baby didnt make it. But she will always be apart of me and a reminder of how much i was in love with her. Make sure you listen to your body. Never feel like your annoying anyone if your curious, ask and if you feel you need to get checked out x
