So, me and OH have been thinking of baby names since we found out at our 20 week scan that we're having a girl, but we can't agree!
I seem to be the only one making suggestions, but he doesn't seem to like any of the names I like!
I don't particularly like weird names, but I don't want her to have the same name as other people in her class in school. (My name is Laura and I was always called by my full name because there was so many people called Laura in my school!)
I like Kyla, Kyra, Darcy, Sienna, Ava and Eva (I know I'll probably change my mind again) but I'd like to start thinking of my baby as having a name rather than just calling her she, I don't think I'd decide on a name 100% til I see her and see what name suits her, but I'd like to at least have a short list of names to choose from when she's born, but I'm sure if my OH has anything to do with it she'll be called Margaret or Miriam or something ... :dohh:
How did anyone else in this situation overcome the problem of a stubborn OH?

Oh I'm so sorry your other half isn't being helpful! I heard a good suggestion, each of you take a baby name book, each person a pen and a notebook. Write down every name you both like on seperate sheets of paper. Then compare notes and see where you are. And remember, some people aren't good at visualizing a name, so make them write a name down if they like it, the whole name, and say it out loud a lot. It often makes me rethink names, and I find names I loved were horrible when said out loud lol!

Good idea from above post. We both wrote names we liked on a list, gave them to each other and deleted the ones we really didnt like, which left us with a few 'compromise' names, which we wrote down on a separate list and thought about for a few weeks, over time a few of them got crossed off which narrowed it down to about 3 names. You'll get there in the end . ps: I love Darcy, Ava, Eva and Sienna, they are all very pretty names :flower:. xx

Sienna, Ava, & Eva are gorgeous names!!

Eva Sienna
Ava Sienna

Love these combos!

I have found that often times OH isn't excited about a name at first until she hears it alot -- so i write it on pieces of paper all over the house -- research the name -- talk about the meaning -- say it with a middle name -- say it with the last name -- and then BAM! All of a sudden, OH is use to it & really starting to like it! Of course, by then i have usually changed my mind! :dohh:

If your OH likes traditional names you have a strong argument with Ava & Eva -- they are both very old, traditional names -- yet trendy & popular (and oh-so-pretty!) at the moment! Both names were equally as popular 120 years ago, as they are today!

Ava means: strength, life, bird, desired
Eva means: life

Me and OH had still not agreed on a name up until she was born. We had a couple of names that we could both agree were ok, but we tended to pick them apart until we didnt like them, e.g it doesnt sound nice with our surname, so and so's friend's baby is called that, it doesnt have a nice meaning etc.

When the day came that she was born, so did one of those ok names and suddenly all the reasons for not choosing it didnt exist anymore. Maybe you could wait until she is born and have fun thinking of possibilities in the meantime?

We were exactly the same and then all of a sudden it kinda fell into place, i was getting really stressed about it and he just kept sayin one will come to me, but the ones he liked I didnt and vice versa, now we hav 5 we agree on, so try not to worry sure you will agree when she arrives x

It took husband and I like 10 minutes to come up with names. I went to a book, wrote down every name I loved. Then I let him cross off what he didn't like. Then he circled what he loved, and added a few he loved. Then we numbered them (so we couldn't see each others answers) and we came up with the boy and girls names. We had a chemical, but our names are not associated with a child until that child is here, so we reserve these names for now. We also picked really easy names, which are completely uncommon but very totally us. We're so protective of the names, we've never told anyone! We're afraid if we tell people the names will all of a sudden burst into popularity and we really don't want that. So for now, we hold them near and dear. We aren't telling family until they meet the child. Then we don't have to hear any opinions, good or bad. So don't worry, sometimes the names come easy and you worry someone else will take the name, sometimes they are more difficult but in the end, you will have a name before the child is 18 =)

I think Darcey, Ava and Eva are quite popluar at the moment, so there will be a few in her class.. we considered Darcy all lovely but if you want something different I love Sienna

I agree with the last person that Ava/Eva are lovely but VERY popular at the moment, am sure when you see your daughter a name will pop to mind. I've never named any of mine the chosen in advance name lol

:kiss:i love all the names u have there especially Eva...(me being Eve'lyn lol).....how about kayla..kyla is beautiutiful aswel hun...clara is nice too...picking names is hard lool...xx

My husband and I went through hundreds of names and could not agree on any but tonight I went through a list of names and circled the ones that I liked and gave it to him for him to circle the ones that he liked and we narrowed it down to two names and we eventually chose one name. I am so relieved because I thought that we will never agree on a name but it seems like the more choices you give yourself is the more difficult it is to choose a name.
